Been re-reading old posts about which cat (front or rear) is the high flowing one and which is more restrictive ? I have an 04 and am thinking about putting the stock mids back on,but gutting the restrictive cat.I want the high flow cat left in to reduce to popping and cackling. The tone now is great but I HATE that popping and cackling.

Or maybe I should just get an aftermarket set of hi-flows ? :dontknow:

the rear's

The huge front's are the problem!

It's said 17-20 hp with removing the front's, and a garaunteed 20 removing both.

The cackling and popping can be taken out with the tune. The PCM is putting in too much fuel on decel. Ask Gary if he can flash you with a program to stop it.:dontknow:

I'd add through exp that the crackling a poping is also due to your exhaust setup.

THe stinker mod, It's install a x-pipe and remove the muffler, install pipes in the place of the muffler. Right?

I did this when i first bought the truck, because thats what i've done in the past. Well in the past I was younger................and loved the crackle when I racked the pipes. Not so much with a baby and all.

So I removed it. When I came off the throttle on mine it sounded like a race car!

IKE

might be to little back preasure

By removng the fronts (most restrictive) what about O2 sims?:dontknow:

Leave'em May not throw a code, or install mech sims

Finding a shop that will remove a cat is the problem

i have the B&B mids with high flows, they come with welded bungs for your sensors. when i let off on the gas with rpm's above 3,000 it will growl all the way down to idle:rock:

I actually still have my stock muffler on for now.It isn't an X pipe, just a simple cross-over.It tremendously reduced the problem, but didn't eliminate it.

Both are way restrictive ditch both of them and dont look back. And if it still pops & cracks put an x-pipe in.

Every body says add a cross over. I had a x-pipe and it popped and crackled really bad...... again thats something i lived for when i was younger

The cross-over works really well.I just want it reduced even more.I am going back to the MagnaFlow with a set of high flow cats and an extra set of resonators to see what tone I get (leaving the cross-over in.)I am also exploring Tim's suggestion about modifying the tune to help.I HATE POPPING/CACKLING/BACKFIRE sounds !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
