i thought you wanted to go newer if thats the case go with the old body style dodge... i believe the 98 models were a good year

I guess by newer I meant reliable. Just seemd that if I bought in the 03-06 range I wouldn't have as much of a concern for the little pieces, start, fuel & water pump, shocks, etc.

Unless you guys think different:dontknow:

theres a HUGE differnce between the new and old body styles (motor, trans ) visualy, do you want a quad cab or king cab?
80's - 99 reg or king , 12 valve
00-02 reg or king 24 valve isb gen 1
03-04 has reg or quad cab - motors 235hp calli smog.....250hp or 305hp HO gen 2
04.5-07 reg or quad motors - 305 or 325 HO gen 3

07-09 Bluetec 6.7 350hp

My girls are 2 & 4, so I need a back seat that has easy access. I saw a new body style today in red (3500) with prolly a 3" lift and 20s with 33" tires. It was a mega cab and it looked awesome!
If I go with an 06, I will have a warranty, but not much money for mods. I would probably put a tuner on to get me more power and put in a numerically smaller gear ratio for better gas mileage.
If I buy and older one, than I have more moey for mods, and can put some money towards paying off my house:dontknow:
the QC doors are not that user friendley when trying to get young kids in and out, but then again they are only in the truck 2-3 times per month!

the newer kingcabs have 4 doors, but id go with a quad cab

i have a leveling kit and 35's, 4x4 and i have no probs in the desert, following the jeeps, towing(last trip, 14.000 bumperpull 55+ got 14mpg over the mountians) it has 3.73 gears, the best part is i fit in the parkign garages still, tho i am a little overwieght

PM'd ya back.
I really won't be going off-road.
I would like to get the similar pull that I get when driving my SRT10 QC. If I can get that torque feeling by just a little flick of the gas pedal that would be awesome. I like the 10 b/c on the highway usually to pass I just could give it a lottle gas, but it didnt have to down shift.
if I could drive it to the track, run a 12 second pass, and drive it home...awesome, I would put some gears in it to give me 20-22 mpg on the highway.

My ford does not have the off the line feel of the 10 but on the highway it has plenty of get up and go once chipped. (night and day difference)

If you go ford stay away from the 03 and 04's they were terrible I had to pay allot of money to get rid of one of them.

then what you need den is a 2wd, there really easy to find, then do al thats on my sig.......can you say OMG da power!! mine holds pretty good speed wise pm me if u have any questions

watch out foe some of the 98ish some of the blocks are prone to crack, the older ones can have the killer dowel pin problem,go with a newer one 04-06 quad 2 wheeler.

You guys are starting to go way over my head...

I really appreciate all the info!
thanks

yea know, thinking about it...go to the local book store or walmart....and get a copy of "diesel power" always have the best info and killer mod stories, that would prob help you the best

With your kids I would buy a newer truck, one it will be much easier to get them in and out.

Ok ......... Lets get a few things cleared up ................
If you were to go older you would want a 94-98.5 The 98.5-02 were 24v, they have a terrible fuel pump on them that is prone to failure when trying to make power. Some guys put a P7100 fuel pump (94-98.5) on the 24v but thats gonna take some coin and not worth it. The 53 block that was mentioned was in the mid to late 90's, they are prone to cracking but not the end of the world. I know of several that are pushing 800hp and they are holding fine.

I am not gonna say dont buy Banks products, but you can do just as good if not better and not spend near the money. They price of diesel trucks is dropping daily with the rising cost of fuel, take your time and you will find a sweetheart deal I promise. Take your time look around and find you a truck that you like and we will then discuss what we need to do to make the power you want.

Well after talking with my wife last night she thinks i am crazy to sell the viper, she thinks I waited and talk about it for to long to just sell it after only having it 8 months. NOw after looking at pics on my computer of it, I realize how awesome looking it is. But its just not driven as much as I would like (3 times in the last 2 months).
Then again I saw a cool looking Dmax coming home from the gym, at least a 12 second diesel would get driven everyday:dontknow:
