i've got a 1956 mercedes benz type 219 sitting at the house, can't decide if i want to upgrade my truck or resto-mod the benz....what are your opinions???
here are some pics of the benz as it sits, and one of my truck, i put in the black honeycomb grille today.

and yes the benz grille is hanging on my wall, i re-did that awhile back and didn't want it to get screwed up sittin outside again...

Sell the Benz. It's a money pit if your not really dedicated, and based on the placement and condition, your not.

selling is DEF. not an option it'll have to sit and rot if i don't do anything with it, it's over there because i changed jobs and didn't have the money for it, before that i had it running and driving...

Hmmmm, you've got enough room under the hood for a V8. My first thought was a Chevy 350 (carb or TPI) and a 700R4 due to low cost but a hemi would do nicely too. And still probably cheaper than working on the stock engine. A little body work and paint, some interior work, some custom wheels and that would be a nice little ride.

What?He has the grill all polished up,And hanging on the wall.:D I would go with the truck.

Do the Benz. It would be a great project if you have the time for it. And it would be killer to see pics and updates as you go along with the project.

There is nothing more satisfying than to build something from the ground up and can look at it and say "Hell Yeah, I did that"

if i do an engine swap it has to be something with a front sump oil pan(ford) i'm really leaning towards the benz, i'd really like to use the orignal motor that is in it just upgrade to TBI in ele. ignition, i've got a set of factory rims from a 78 benz that i was gonna put on it. i'll keep ya'll updated on it, gotta clean up the shop a little bit now though

To restore the Benz to any type of presentable condition you will be looking at a shit load of money, even if you do the majority of the work yourself.
