I don't have a life for 6 months out of the year, because I live in Pittsburgh. Between Halloween and Easter this place is a living hell for me. It's dark, gloomy, and miserable. I wish I could sleep through it all. If I must continue to live here, I'd gladly give up half of my life due to hibernation than drudge through a lifetime of winters in this hell hole.

Yeah it sucks pretty bad. What makes it even worse is the over-reaction to winter by the people here. They act like we live in Antarctica, when in reality we average around 40 inches of snow a year. That's not a lot.

The reason those hills on the other side of the river are so horrible when it snows, is because they probably weren't treated. In Pittsburgh, they like to salt the roads continuously....when it's NOT snowing. 40 degrees and rainy? Let's break out the salt trucks & plows fellas! A foot of snow's on it's way? Uh, we're gonna have to look at out union handbook first before we make a final decision....We'll get back to you in 48 to 72 hours.

So they overkill the roads with salt, but only when they don't need to be treated. The salt grime sticks around all year long. Even in the summer time here, it's everywhere. Some municipalities use cinders as well. They're even worse.
