My business is renting generators and light towers. My largest customer by far is the oil exploration in south and west Texas. That ain’t the big reason I like hight oil prices. A 3 bedroom 2 bath house of 1800 sq ft built in the late ’60 leases for $2700 per month. Normally that is a $700 to $900 house in west Texas. A 2br- 1ba 54’ mobile home rents for $1850, normally $450. Soooo, shorty (that me) bought 10-32’ FEMA trailers that rent for $950 plus lot space. That my friends is a 51/2 month pay back, the reason I like high gas prices.
Please don’t misunderstand me; I do have great empathy for each of you that the price at the pump has hurt. It’s just I have found a way to make the most of a bad situation. I can’t beat um so I figured a way to make a little hay while the sun is shining. If Obama kills fracking then I will go into the salvage business. To me, this is what America is all about, the freedom to work thru a bad situation and turn it into something that is beneficial. And don’t worry that I may be gouging the poor oilfield worker, one man I know is being paid $125 per diem for himself and $125 for his wife. That is $7500 per month living expenses plus almost $35 per hour for labor. The drilling company also gave his wife a job in the office so alls well that ends well. That’s my story.
