Gun owners are through out history some of the biggest whack jobs on the Planet :congrats: :congrats:
YES Sir, they have, and they have also owned swords, knives, axes, hachets,
spears, bows and arrows, crossbows, spikes, baseball bats, tire tools,
hammers, razors, etc.
My "EXTREMELY WELL QUALIFIED OPINION", concerning firearms is this.
If there were a life saving medicine that was over 99% effective when
administered, it would be or should be, heralded as a miracle drug.
However if the news media sensationalized only the less than 1%
times where the patient happened to be allergic and died, there would be
calls for this horrible dangerous drug to be banned and probably drug co
exec's imprisoned. The true fact (from someone who really does know), is that firearms DO save many, many, more lives than
they take!
One of the big lies that is perpitrated by the news media and some politicians
was the so-called assault weapons problem. For over ten years one of my
responsibilities was the inspecting and safe keeping all confiscated firearms
for a major metro law enforcement agency. During that time exactly one
firearm fitting the common discription of assault weapon was turned in and it
was found under a suspect's bed, not used against anyone as is the case
with 99+ percent of all firearms that came into my custody and the colleages
of mine.
Back during the hayday of the assault weapons frenzy we had discussions
on the subject because we could not understand why there was such an
uproar about banning types of firearms that had been used only in a couple
of well sensationalized(yes tragic) incidents, but were otherwise an anomaly
when misused.
At the time of this discussion Clinton was in office and many people
were fed up with high taxes, big govn't, and two incidents
called WACO and Ruby Ridge,
further inflamed many peoples disdain for the federal govn't.
The only reason we could think of was the fact that those are the type
weapons that could give the people a fighting chance to accomplish
the real intent of the second amendment and that is protection not only
from foreign threats, but also from a govn't that has become oppressive and
tyrannical.
In closing I want to say that firearms are allot like Hot rod cars.
A lady asked for a ride in my lincoln and When I matted it she started
screaming, jumped out and ran back into the court house almost before I
was able to stop.
I later found out that she had wet herself and told the judge she works for,
and anyone else that it should be against the law to have a car with that
much power on public streets.
MORAL OF THE STORY
IGNORANCE BREEDS FEAR!!!
And to the LIBERALS, they know " IF YOU KEEP REPEATING A LIE LONG ENOUGH SOME PEOPLE WILL BELIEVE YOU!"
