Why didn't they make a regular cab with an auto trans?
When I started looking at these trucks I wanted a regular cab with an automatic. I had to make a choice between what I wanted most, regular cab with stick or quad with auto.
It was like the lesser of to evils...No offense to quad guys!
Does anyone know why we couldn't have either way?
Can my truck be changed over to auto without breaking the bank?
What if I found a totaled truck and took that set up?:dontknow:

The Rc was Geared toward the Hardcore Enthusiat. The Qc well also toward the Hardcore enthusiat but that wanted Towing and Be versatile

anything can be done --it just takes $$$$$$ time and ingenuity

No offense, but the 6 six speed is the SHEAT! Tons of fun to drive.:burnout:

Too bad the QCs are faster!

I have the opposite question... why not a manual trans... it's the primary reason that my first srt10 was an rc.... the auto trans blows monkey nuts...:(

p.s. I've never seen any proof that mod for mod... qc's are any faster.... I can tell you that my RC was faster than my qc by nearly half a second...

only diff was
rc=vec2 /magnaflow
qc=dc flash/no cats/magnaslow...

<shrug>

I like the six speed myself, but it would be cool if it was an auto trans WITH a hurst auto shifter (where the stick is now). That would've been the shit.

Tell you what My Qc will beat your Rc:p I think its a drivers race Rc's have traction problems. My qc hooks very good and the caltracs keep it planted.

I'm going off several timeslips from both my qc/rc... of course I don't own the RC anymore and it the slips weren't done on the same day... but they were I had multiple days on both trucks and the times <for me anyway> were pretty consistent..

the only other thing my RC had that my qc doesn't was an x-metal lowering kits.... I'd be hard pressed to agree that that's worth half a second :p

RC with auto would be better for the dragstrip, but would make a crappy road racer and not nearly as much fun as a stick. I don't think anyone could deny that.

That said, I can't understand why there was not an option, a lot of people just don't care about shifting. Locking tranny type with cabstyle was a poor management decision.

I enjoy my 6 speed when it's time to play but there are times when you just want to put it in drive and drink your coffee.
I thought mayby dodge had some great underlying reason for doing this.
Another thing I assume {poor joice of words i know} they stopped making our trucks because of poor sales. When did they ever advertise these trucks to stir interest?
Back on subject, has anyone heard of a kit made to do this conversion?

That's what I'm thinking of. Thanks for finding that.
I was talking yesterday to my mechanic and he does not recommend the automatic that comes in the QC because it uses about 100 horse power.
Sure sounds simpler to do though!
