just got everything put back together in my truck, and went to push clutch down and nothing. so i tried bleeding it and still nothing. now i have a puddle of clutch fluid dripping out of bell housing plus the bleed screw on the slave has no fluid coming out. do the viper slaves crap out a lot?

No if you didnt get the shim you blew out the slave:eek: dont feel bad did it my self

the thing is before I pulled tranny it was perfect. I didn't think the clutch would go soft with a quick disconnect. All I did with slave was unbolt of from tranny and from quick discoonect. Clean it with parts cleaner and then installed it back on tranny. Where is the shim?

Well it depends, did you install the viper car hydaulics or do you still
have the plastic slave that came with the truck? The shim would have
fit behind the viper car slave cylinder.. I have a new one i can take pictures
of to show you where the shim would have fit..

let me know,

Andrew

i didn't install the slave originally. the previous owner installed the wilwood clutch and slave. i dont remember seeing a shim behind the slave on the tranny. pictures would help me a lot. COuld you take pictures of the viper slave and the shim? I asked my boss about it and he gave me a pressure bleeder to use to bleed to the system. I'll pull the tranny back just enough to see where it might be leaking from. I dont think the parts cleaner could have destroyed the rubber but it could have.

should be a washer the size of the base of the slave. they stack up the slave ahead i would say a 1/4" or 3/8"

Yeah you got the viper car hydraulics.. Here's a picture of the lip of my
new slave cylinder to show you where this shim would fit.. Also, the
shim is circled in the last picture i attached.

Think of it as a giant washer that just fits into the back of that slave
cylinder making the back of the cylinder completely flat.. :D

well i hooked up the pressure bleeder and my master is good but had a massive leak with the slave. so i just spent the last hour pulling trans back to pull slave and this is what i found. the casing is cracked 360 degrees. i see what you are talking about the shim. i just emailed dan at dc to see if he can ship me a new one tomorrow overnight. can i reuse the shim or should i get a new one?

Sorry to hear about your slave failing.. :( Well since it's just a piece of metal
i can't see why you couldn't use it as long as it's perfectly true/flat/straight.
I personally would check to see, when inserted, if it's completely
flat with the rim of the slave cylinder.. If all that checks out you should be
fine..

That still doesn't explain why your slave failed the way it did....

If it's questionable i would just order a new one.. Heck, you might be
able to get one for free from Roe.. He offered to send me one of the new
thicker shims for my alum. flywheel but i told him i had no plans to use
that flywheel again..

Well dan installed this one I believe when he installed the Paxton and other goodies. I don't want to come off as cheap and ask for a free part when they aren't cheap. On mine there seems to be a little lip where the shim leaves about 1/16" of a lip. Is this ok or does the shim need to be flush?

what do you guys think the slave cracking could be from? dropping the clutch to much? (i've only been able to enjoy this truck 10 days before i pulled trans so i wasn't even comfortable enough to do burnouts in it)

never seen that before, in the kit from jmb you get 2 shims that you are supposed to install.

Check your pilot bearing that is what caused the shaft to wobble just enough on mine to take out 4 slaves. Sean finaly hooked me up with the right one problem solved the one that came with my centerforce was the wrong one.
