WHY?

:dontknow: Yes, I ask “why?†Why do my SRT brothers feel these trucks aren’t fast enough as is? Why do ricers continuously try to bite off way more than they can chew? Why, I ask, am I asking all these questions? Let me reiterate… WHY? Okay so I’ll clarify what I’m trying to say.

This evening I took a slight intermission from the VTCoA forum and went out for a bit. On my way back home I get cut off on the freeway by a red 3000GT. This knucklehead was driving really stupid relative to the amount of dense traffic on the freeway with us. I wasn’t going to engage but I did at least stay within close proximity to it waiting for the opportune moment. Well he was willing to place some innocent peoples’ lives on the line for the sake of being in front. I wasn’t willing to. So he dangerously maneuvers his way through the other cars and took off when he got an opened stretch. I left it at that thinking the clown is gone anyway. I get around the group of cars and pick up speed. Eventually I catch up to him. He sees me coming and tries to accelerate thinking I couldn’t keep up… WRONG! Excuse the pun but I was like white on rice. Then tell me why the Mustang GT that we passed tried to get into it… Anyway that portion is not even worth mentioning because the GT never had a chance. Okay, then I see my exit. Drats, because now the freeway is completely clear. I have to choose. Take my exit or crap all over this guy’s ego? Well they’re other exits right? SUUURRRE, and there were absolutely no innocent motorists in the area. Those folks were way behind us, so I continue on. I figure it’s time to stop toying with the ricer so I downshift to 4th and slingshot around him. Then that was it, he wasn’t able to do anything about it. I’m at 145 by now and climbing but there was no need to carry this on so I move to the nearest exit. I am slowed to about 70 now and behind another motorist. The 3000GT eventually catches up and does the infamous ricer flyby pretty darn close to my driver’s side. What a dork. But it was nice to open her up since I haven’t for about 4 days. (4 days ago was another fun story with FastBlkSRT by my side in his baby running against a daring Daytona. But that’ll be in another thread)

So with what I see from these things with a stock tune I wonder how it must be with some of your 600+ HP monsters. That’s how come I ask why make them much faster than they already are? To me it’s just unimaginable. I drive foolish enough at times. I’d hate to see what trouble I’d get into with 680 or above RWHP.

A wise man once told me(vprpwr), Any idiot can do 140mph, However its somethin else to hit that from a standing start in a 1/4 mile...
Come on bro, 2-3 roll race ok, But f*ckin pulling 140 with idiot ricers come on man....I thought you were a cop previously, didnt you see enough street racin accidents??? Sorry if i come off a lil rude:dontknow:

Honestly this is getting old too man... you bought a damn truck (and have a gsxr750 on your wishlist) with a Viper engine and your here to tell us you don't go fast? From what i gathered here he was doing 140mph when it was all clear, that leaves him and the ricer. He also mentioned how he didn't race when there was traffic and he slowed right down when he caught up to traffic.

Pick your spots and slow down if you hit traffic....

Plz re-read my post and think about it...
I'll have you know that I hardly get way into the throttle and for the most part dont exceed the speed limit 10mph on the streets and 15 on the freeway. As far as the bike i'm looking i'm getting, i'm more concerned with a more agile bike in the canyons than brute accel bike on the highway(i.e R6). I'm not saying dont go fast just do it responsibly. 140 is not

Good story VP! I'll will post the run in with the Daytona and the GTO in a seperate thread. IMO if he or any other person on here wanted to go the speed limit they would of bought a regular truck.

I WAS a cop previously and I know the consequences of street racing. But I wasn’t on the street I was on the freeway. And also that's why I waited until I had the clear because I’m not about endangering other motorists if I can help it. Just like my buddy FastblkSRT said, if I wanted to drive the speed limit I would have bought a Hemi. Don’t act like your insurance rates are low because you’re just the good ol’ boy driver through the canyons with your hands at 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock! I don’t have lonely canyons to breeze through and my hands are always at 9:45 and 2:19. You can putt putt along at 65 or 70 if you so choose, but I’ve always been this way prior and post law enforcement career…. In fact I don't have the slightest recollection of when I AM going below the speed limit when I am not in heavy traffic…. And in addition I KNOW I’m certainly not the only one here. SHEESH, at least I didn’t do what the ricer was doing. I’m shocked he didn’t see his life flash before his eyes with the stunts he pulled, but he sure saw me flash before his eyes before I was gone. Nuff sed!

i agree 100 percent with you there VP.

I don't...I say we take him out back and beat the sheit out of him :D

I hit 140 every now and then.....always in the open, and never near on-ramps/tops of hills....

Oh, and always on the track ;)

140.... 155... even topped out at 160 once but it took me a little while, a wide lonely freeway and going down hill off the Houston Ship Channel bridge before I saw those speeds. Believe me I will never go that fast again. Feeling like your vehicle is traveling on ice is a bit freaky. I know it's not the wisest thing to do but I always make sure many factors are met first and I always remain within the boundries of my driving abilities.. I mainly rely on my experience and driver training. If I didn't have that I wouldn't get above 95. This thread in no way condones any level of exceeding the posted speed limit. But it's me, my truck and a fairly lonely stretch when I attempt something like that. Sure I may wreck and tie up the freeway but that's my choice. I'm just glad when I can come here and share it with everyone like we all do.

Hard to go fast here in the LA area, too much traffic during the week, only times are either really late or really early. CHP and Sherriff are also very good at catching some speeders. I can only imagine the stretches of road that allow the truck to run fast and hard.

You are becoming wise in your old age..

What people don't consider is that....after VP gets done beating, in this case an $8,000 POS....that driver is all pumped up and keeps driving like a moron....so when the 3000gt kills someone an hour later...you are not an innocent bystander...

I will not condem those who do the same things I did when I was younger. With age comes wisdom, or at least experience.

I do have to commend Nowwhat for bringing up a very valid point that I had not thought of. What if boy racer had crashed 2 miles up the road and taken out a family of four. That's one of those difficult things isn't it. While not directly responsible, would it way on you? Something to ponder over a beer sometime.

...and what if Mr.3000GT pulls up next to a ride and wants to go, only to have the car's window zip down and a .50AE put a drain plug in his skull?

...and what if Mr.3000GT goes home, all pissed off about losing, and beats his wife/boyfriend?

We could play the "what if" game for the rest of the millenium.

What if you put some more thought into the subject before you type something that makes no sense..
