Will 1 piece key for 2006 work for an 2005?

Will the 2006 work for an 05, is there a chip used on our trucks? I lost my key and was wondering if I order a new one can it be the 1 piece with remote control in it?

if the 06 has a chip too it may be able to be programmed to the truck i'd ask the dealer, i just took the chip outta my key and glued it to the steering coloum and used an 04 viper key

the 05/05 key is FOR SURE, i would assume the 06 was as well so i would also assume that the 06 key could be programmed to your truck, and yeah i just decided to take a chance on the theift thing, don't really have to worry about it around here and i try to keep the truck in sight when i go somewhere

It will definitely start the start the truck, but IT WILL NOT LOCK/UNLOCK the doors.

I ran into this when I upgraded to my Viper key. I was going to step "backward" and use a 04/05 entry-remote. As far as the remote portion is concerned, I was told they are not interchangable.

The 06 key seem convenient, but it's large and gaudy - especially on a key ring with other keys. I had to keep it seperate and even then it was annoying to have in your pockey, atleast in my opinion it was.

I thought of that..it's almost as big as carrying the remote around.... Prob won't work b/c the wiring system is different between 05 -06:dontknow:

I did the Viper key mod, except with a GenIII key. I simply taped the chip out of a spare key to the inside of the column-cover. To get around not having a fob, I cut the stalk off of another key.
