I would go with the k&n drop in. I deffinetly noticed a difference. Only 50 bucks, save your money for something else. Some members have the volant and i dont think that it made a big difference in hp but it sure as hell makes the truck sound a lot nicer. My buddy Shawn (Iltemprd) has the voland and MGF cat-back and it sounds much better than mine with just the drop in.

It depends on personal preference my friend.

There has been no absolute positive proof anything other than a drop in makes a large difference.

i personally have tried both the volant and the k&n CAI, and stuck with the volant for personal preference.

All will give you better breathing, some more actual sound, but go with your gut and get what you personally like

Performance gain seems to be minimal, at best. However, for me the sound alone is worth the price.

The performance gains from any CAI is not large enought to notice, anyways. If you're looking at paying $1,000.00 for a Volant then you're getting robbed. I have the volant and it sounds nice but I haven't noticed any major fuel savings or HP increase.

My advice would be, that if you really want an intake kit, then get on ebay and find one. You can get a K&N set up for around $230.00

You will be able to do a 50' wheelstand if you get it.
:D Damn, that was funny! I'm gonna be randomly luaghing all day from that - hope I don't have any meetings or I'm gonna get fired!

SERIOUSLY - I'd say get the K&N drop in filter, and put the remaining $300+ savings towards computer or exhaust mods.

Sh!t - still laughing...50 foot wheelstand...LOL :dancing:

Has anyone had problems with the K&N filters affecting mass airflow sensors? I have one on my supercharged Corvette and the oil from the K&N is constantly causing MAF faults and subsequent driveability problems. The MAF burns it off when you shut off the motor, but it's really irritating to have to pull over and go through the MAF's 3-minute self-cleaning before the car will run right again.

K&N has a page on their website claiming it doesn't happen unless you over-oil the filters, but this has not been the problem with my Corvette. It occurs with every level of oiling I have tried.

I got a dyno proven 4rwhp and 7rwtq from the K&N drop in and it was only $50 from my local O'Rielly's. You can find a K&N at your local automotive store cheap.

What kind of blower is on your Vette? I had a Procharged Z06 and never had this problem. Of course, the oil would have to have gone through the blower head, tubing, intercooler, and more tubing before the MAF.

ok guys i know i am a dumbass,, but you are saying that i will get increased hp with this filter? and i would have to oil the filter? if so am i post to oil the filter that is in it now? sorry for the dumbass questions

I have seen Itemprd (Shawn's) volant installed and everyone is forgetting one very important benefit...The Volant's wood chipping design allows Shawn to turn branches of up to 3" in diameter into a useful and nutrient filled mulch for his yard and garden...

Yes you will a smaaall hp increase with a K&N. I dyno'd my truck in P'cola bone stock with the paper air filter then just changed the filter to a K&N and picked up the 4hp and 7lbft of torque I mentioned earlier. The filter will come pre-oiled so all you have to do is replace your stock filter, no further oiling needed. With a K&N you dont change the filter, you buy a "re-charging" kit, wash the filter, then reoil it (about every 6k miles or so for us here in FL).

BWAAHAAAAAAA!!!! It went from an SRT-10 to an SRT-DR chipper shredder!

I started with the Magnaflow and then added the K&N drop in. After a while I installed he Volant CAI. I could not tell a real difference in power but I could tell a big difference in the sound of the truck. I think the sound makes it worth the money alone. There is another SRT-10 in town now and he has heard my truck pass so he won't race me thinking it is faster than his. If the sound alone will do that I like it. Just my 2 cents for what it's worth.
