I had my side and rear windows professionally tinted, even though it's completely illegal in my state of PA..and it's a VERY enforced law here. The cops (for whatever reason) take window tint almost as seriously as they take DUI. Haven't been bothered yet in this truck, but it's gonna happen for sure. Usually they just make you remove it with a razor in front of them while they watch. No fine or anything.

Any of you guys have this problem in your state? I've been "busted" for tint at least 5 times. Each time, I make sure I take my good ol' time scraping it off in front of the cop.

In Florida it's enforced but not that much. They will give you a 2 week time period to have it removed and after the 2 weeks if you get stopped again there is a fine.

If the law is that strict - why would you go beyond the limit? Only to have to scrape it off later anyways.

Here in TN, it's not so strict. They wont pull anyone over JUST for tint, but they'll gladly add it to a list of offenses if they've pulled you over for anything else.

They dont mess with you here in the desert its too hot without tint you melt:D Or at least get your hand burned on the steering wheel.

The limit on tint here is "no tint" on the side windows period. I'd much rather run the constant risk of having to scrape it off, then re-apply it again..than not have any tint at all. I also find it highly amusing that the cops care so much about window tint in this state, so it's sort of fun for me (in a strange way) to get pulled over and lectured for something so trivial. Provided I'm not in a hurry to get somewhere, I've enjoyed most of my supervised roadside tint-peeling sessions. It's fun to witness the asinine priorities of the Pennsylvania legal system.

I have gotten tint in VA, and if you go above the legal limit the shop makes you sign a waver saying you know it is illegal. I have been pulled over a couple of times and have been checked out with some handheld device the cops have and have passed ever time.

If you are going to tint, I would recommend that you stick with the law, they are always going to check you out and it is not worth the time.

It was bad in MI... They didn't allow ANY tint on your vehicle. It was enforced because they had a number of cop killings due to tint. (the officer was not able to see the person behind the tint, and was shot through the glass...)... I'm guessing something similar happened in your state, hence the strict enforcement. :dontknow:

Nope. They're just assholes here. BTW do you know a Mike Rellick in Merrit Island?

legal where i live in 35%, but i've always had 5%. been lucky and never been pulled yet. cops don't seem to worry about it too much here though. i do nevertheless try to roll the windows down if i see a state trooper nearby because they're the ones who are sticklers on it.
