Heading to work this morning, another vehicle kicked up a rock or something and my windshield took the hit. Is the SRT-10 windshield the same as any other Ram windshield? I have an 06 RC.

Yes it is the same, but make sure you get a good name brand windshield. I would suggest Safeguard (which is OEM), Pilkington, or PPG. Use a small independent shop that has been in business for at least 7 years. Get a lifetime warranty on workmanship. Don't let anyone tell you that they are all the same, because they are NOT!

Plus pay close attention to the top of the windshield, you will notice that these trucks did not come from the factory with an upper molding. It takes a good installer to get these out without scratching the metal down in between the glass & the roof. If they scratch it, it could rust.

If you need anymore info feel free to call me at 586-783-2277.

And one more thing, you get what you pay for, trust me.

Bill.

One more thing, if you are interested. Safeguard also makes a windshield with the Ram's head logo in the glass above the rear view mirror. It is part number DW1728GTY. Now this windshield costs a bit more than the stock one, but they do look good. IMO

The last time I had a rock chip in my window, I called the glass company and had them deliver it to my local tint shop where they tinted the WHOLE windshield and the next day they came back out and installed the windshield. :D Not saying this is an option for you, but it is a thought...

Bill, thanks for the info, especially the brands and tips on removing the glass without messing up the paint. When I have this work done, I will pay close attention to the removal process and the results after they remove the glass. I will also check before hand the warranties and their workmanship policy.

In VA tinting the windshield is a no, no. But I wonder if NASCAR tear offs are OK -- Hmmm?
