Hope like hell the islands don't get walloped by a tsunami today. There are also warnings on the California and Oregon coasts.

I don't know if people realize how big an 8.8 is, but I can't even imagine. Hell, they got something like a 6.7 aftershock, and that's a big ass quake all on it's own.

Hope the people of Chile get through this as well as can be too.

I'm here on the beach in Maui and not a thing is happening. It's a snorefest. I had a nice boat rented for theday now. Everything is canceled. And we don't even get a good wave.

There is some action in Hilo Bay...the first impact could be delayed as much as an hour according to the new projections.

2012 is atarting to look scary

Well we are lot farther away, so I am still in the watch mode...

I did the proper thing and evacuated my ten to my freinds house up the mountain. :D LOL I live across the street from the ocean on the westside. My entire hood was evacuated. If the ocean would have risen, we would have been wet. Its easy to take it lightly if your a visitor here but if a large wave would have come, our homes, economy and livelihoods would have been toast. When you face that, it takes on a whole new meaning.

Being stuck in a hotel would have been nice compared to the hundreds of cars I saw above my house on the side of the road in the sun and heat for 5 plus hours.

In the end, I thought the local media coverage did a great job and people heeded their advice.
