Eye-Popping Male Fashion Trend
Women, sit down. You won't believe this. Men want to wear pantyhose. Well, they're not calling it pantyhose. They're calling it "mantyhose."
News.com reports that mantyhose--pantyhose for men--is the latest male fashion trend with some diehards working hard to establish this as a regular clothing item for men. They say everyone from truck drivers (it improves their circulation) to cowboys (keeps them warm on the cold prairie) is wearing mantyhose, but we're not so sure we believe that. As if "manscara" and "man-bras" weren't enough.
"It's fun, but no joke," male hosiery-wearer Harisnya told News.com. He's so adamant that both men and women should be encouraged to wear the sexy, sheer garment, he has set up a Web site to promote it. "Men have great legs and hosiery is a great way to show them. It's quite practical in some ways. It prevents chafing, for example, when horse riding or cycling, but it's also a good alternative to bulky underwear if you need some warmth."
What makes mantyhose different from pantyhose? It contains a "male comfort panel" that better fits a man's shape, as well a fly opening.
Harisnya insists mantyhose should be worn because it helps to "illustrate" a man's legs. "Not all men like to hide in gray uniformed clothes. It's an easy way to dress differently, pairing the color or pattern of your pantyhose to the rest of your clothes just like you do with the color or pattern of your tie," he told News.com. "It's relatively easy, too, as hosiery goes easily with almost every kind of shorts and shoes."
One advantage of wearing mantyhose: No more worries about matching your socks, guys.
