You got served!!!

Army Nam Vet, May 1967 to May 1968 25th Inf. Cambodian Border.

I'm active duty Air Force at the moment, been in for 8 years. I've enjoyed it, I travel all the time with my job, all over the world. Currently, I'm a boom operator on KC-10A's, I refuel other aircraft in flight, it's pretty fun, and I've deployed to most of the hot spots over the years. I'm getting out in a couple months and transferring over to the Army National Guard to fly helicopters, so I'm pretty psyched about that.

A little "Puff The Magic Dragon" action? :D

My little bro just signed up for his 3rd tour in the Navy (heading to Kuwait on 9.11 of all days). He couldn't hack it in the real world, so off he goes again. I think it's good for him.

A HUGE hat-tip to all the men and women around the world that step up and kickazz so I can sit on mine and type BS on internet forums without fear of being shot in the back.
You all rock!!!

grandfather served in WWII, my other grandfather served in Korea. had uncles that served in Nam. i think everyone should serve in the military, and there would be more honor and peace in the world

AAAMMEEEENNNNN Brother. I agree 200%.

I don't recommend it as a career for everyone. But it definitely should be a base for people to start there lives off and learn morals and values that they may not have learned prior to going out into the real world.

I'll second that amen and raise you one :D

Yup, that is at least one thing that Israel is smack dab correct on. Every person in this country should serve this country in some manner. Now, it doesn't even have to be in the military, though I think that is a great place to grow up, you simply have no choice but to do so. Though that doesn't explain why I sometimes still act like a 13 year old who just drank his first beer and got his finger smelly for the first time LOL. Anyway, I digress. I really think we all owe this nation something, and not just tax dollars. If everyone were to give just a year, we could bring some great changes. If not in the military, then you could be out mentoring inner city kids, or teaching technical skills to high school seniors, or simply spending time with elderly folks that are are homebound. The list goes on and on. I really think it would go a long way towards getting everyone in the country on the same page so to speak.

My Dad flew with the 101st and flew out of Hunter around that time (I think) so was my grandfather. Do you remember a CWO Moak or Maj Lane (or LTCOL depending on the exact time)?

Many missions with HC-2. Our main purpose in the states was Executive Transport. I have flown a lot to the Pentagon and out of Andrews. I have even flow a V-2 several times. A V-2 is the same code the Vice President gets. Pres gets V-1 and a four star would get a V-3. Just to give you an idea.
Now I'm flying a desk until this current shit storm clears itself.

Smoke, can't say that I do bro, but that was a long time ago. Shit I just realized after reading this thread that i said it was 30 years ago and it was really 40. Shit I am getting old. Next thing you know I'll be like Silverback or Sickness, sitting around viewing porn all day. Oh well I guess it could be worse. Take care of yourself my man.:burnout:

1991-1995 US Army Infantry

Aug 1991-Nov 1991 Basic and Infantry AIT, Ft Benning, Georgia
Dec 1991-May 1994 Mannheim, Germany
May 1994-Aug 1995 Ft. Lewis, WA

Joined delayed entry program in Dec 1990 so I could go fight in the Gulf War. War was over before I graduated high school:mad: In retrospect, that was a good thing, but as a 17-year-old, that made me mad. Was gung-ho infantry, hard-core killer type first three years. Attended the first Regional Response, Special Operations Taget Interdiction Course, taught by the 10th Special Forces Group, from Ft Devens. For those who do not know, it is a sniper course for urban terrain and special operations. I am legally colorblind and passed the course, which is a huge feat!! I was convinced that a career in Special Forces was for me!! Went through all the crap it took to get a date for the SF assessment and selection course, and then re-injured a childhood knee ligament problem just two weeks before my date while training for said course. Dammit!! Was laid up for a while and got stuck on every shit duty and detail they could find for me, so that soured me on re-upping. Decided to finish my four and I was out.
