my bet it was chasing a ferrari and only becuse the road was so narrow the ZR1 pulled up to it a few times and about past it once

The ZR1 is a heck of a bargain. If I were in the market for a supercar it would be an easy choice. Heck, you can buy two ZR1's for the cost of the competition.
