Hey, well as some of you know i just installed the Stage II PCM from MoparConnection.
Today while driving home i monitored the temp. of my engine because it was
fairly hot (87) outside.. Well, on the way home i'm watching the temp.. everything
looks good.. (just a FYI when i drive the temp is around 170-185 stopped it's 200)
soon as i get into my driveway i get out of my truck to open the garage door..
i get back in and the temp is over 230! so i parked it and popped the hood..
no leaks and i'm not short on fluid.. this is the first time it happened and i
don't need to pay for a problem i could have stopped.. any ideas as to why
'm overheating? should i be concerned?

Thanks,

Sharpi

You might still have some air in the system :dontknow:

Air in the system?

did you install the thermostat right?

Is the fan kicking on?

The answers:

1) Maybe? :dontknow: how do i check?

2) Yes

3)Yes, it's very loud

i've had the T-Stat and PCM setup since friday and it's been ok.. i've driven
about 100 miles since i installed it... that's why i thought it was weird that it
would over heat like that.. i expected something like this maybe after the first
30 miles or so..

go outside, start the motor, open the bleeder on the top on the thermostat housing, and make sure all the air comes out.

Leave it open till no more air bubbles.

If you did not bleed it, then thats your problem...air.

Only takes about 5 minutes :) Make sure to top-off your coolent.

And place a drain pan on the ground to catch the little bit of coolant that will run out while you bleed it, or you'll make a mess.

Or, do it in front of someone elses house.;)

Speaking of coolent.. did everyone agree that the stock antifreeze was ok?
i remember that someone mentioned prestone was bad because of corrosion
or something of the like... i take it i could get some factory coolent from
dragon?

And in this picture when you speak of bleeder valve.. you speak of 1
or 2

Thanks for the speedy replies :)

#1...you can actually put a small clear hose on it to drain the coolant into a bottle:idea:

so many cool things to learn by just ready

Thanks Sharpi

There's this newfangled gadget called a garage door opener. Pull in the driveway, push the button (Homelink on overhead console) and voilà. The door magically opens. :D I'm messing with ya. I'm in the door business and can't imagine having to get out to open the door. You'll be spoiled if you get one.

you would you post Ho :p :dontknow: ;) :p :p ;) :D

anyways, here's the details... should my radiator be half full??
i bled the damn valve about 5 times and air still came out.... the resivour(spelling)
was about half a foot above "MIN" and so i checked my radiator and it's
about half full....

Now what do i fill it with??? i know distilled water but should i buy any
more "Special coolant"? :dontknow:

Sharpi

oh that and i got some antifreeze on my lips.. tastes good :D

didn't mean to ho the thread :dontknow:

Sharpi

distilled water...dont put too much antifreeze in it. Distilled water is what cools thing, antifreeze......well, just what its called, keep the water from freezing! :D

Keep bleeding it till all of the air is out!

Yes you rad should be full. The reservoir is more an expansion tank. Bleeds excess into it when the fluid expands and should pull from it when the system cools and contracts. Sounds like you've got a lot of air in the system if the rad is only half full. You'll need some Chrysler magic coolant. Don't mix types. I think the coolant also raises the boiling point of the fluid so it doesn't overheat as easily.

Alright, so here's the plan..

1)Contact Dragon get 1 gal. of coolant
2) buy a gal or two of distilled water
3)pour entire contents of Coolant into Rad.
4) top off with distilled water

Sound like a plan?:dontknow: :D :D
