Okay so i got my caltracs installed and it stopped rainen so i am trying to get them adjusted properly.

the instructions said to tighten the traction bar untill the roller touches the top leaf. then unscrew untill there is a small amount of space.

so that is what i did and i cant tell a difference at all. i smoked the tires all the way through first.

I will say this though, it did launch straight with no hop.lol

Now i have done a little research in the search opt, sound like i should have made contact with the roller, and then tighten it down another 1-2 turns on the bar. tightening the roller down on the leaf. is that correst, si i need to take threads out of the traction bar?

any help is appreciated and if it makes a diff i took out my overload leaf, dont know if that makes a diff or not

thanks

Do what your search has told you.

well thats the thing. evryone says they put 1-2 turns on the bar but they dont say which direction. when u tighten the bar it pulls the roller off the leaf, but logic would dictate u want the roller holding tight on the leaf so there is no movement/hook up.

and since there is alredy a small space when i set them yesterday. it seems i wouldnt do anything to put another 1-2 turns to make the space even bigger.

Simple question, arethe rollers supposed to be touching the top leaf if the truck is just sittin there and not in gear?

Put truck on jackstands just high enough to remove the tires on a flat level surface. Remove both rear tires. Have some one same weight as you sit in drivers seat. Turn caltrac bar , by hand , so bar gets longer and bracket Pin touches spring. Then use wrench to add 1 complete turn. Then lock nuts at this position. Install rear tires. Remove jack stands. Any other adjustment will have to be determined at the track depending on launch characteristics caltracs really just stabilize the diff and prevents wheel hop. Until you get slicks and alot of horsepower , this is all you will need to do
This is just my opinion and I am no expert. This is how I have mine setup. Track day is Friday.

Awsome huck,, thats exactly what i was looking for. i just did exactly that but put 1.25 extra turn. bout to take a drive and test her out. thanks buddy

im at a half turn against the spring with 1/4 tank of gas and me sitting in it

well i just took a nice long drive and retightened all bolts for a third time. i think all the suspencion has set cus erthings still tight. i ended up a 1.25 turns past touch. not sure if thats what u guys mean by tight? icould not do it with anyone in the drivers seat though. seemed to ride pretty good though, seems like it is stiffer on heavy exceleration. but i did level the back at the same time sooooooo. yeah

im pretty happy with it, maybe in a couple weeks il re adjust with a buddy sittin in the drivers saeat.

thanks guys

yeah just reread hucks post. it sounds like u guys are turning it 1.25 turns past as tight as u can get it by hand, or, 1.25 turns past the point the roller touches the leaf?? i may still be too loose?

sit in the truck, adjust the bars down till they touch the leaf springs, then adjsut them down another turn and a half,

thats the best place to start

cool. thats what i did, just makin sure.

truck looks so much better with the leveling block stink, much better:top::top::top:
