I have a K&N drop in cone filter part number E-0776 that I just freshly cleaned for the new owner and this will come with a new cleaning kit as well. I paid over $80 for the filter alone would like $60 plus ship for both the filter and new cleaning kit. Please pm me with any questions etc. This is the filter everyone says is as good as a cold air intake and ya just have to remove the notch in the airbox if I remember right. It also fits diesel 2500 & 3500 2003-2007. Here are the specs from K&N website:

Yes it is a cone shape not just a flat panel! More surface area and better flow.

If I remember right there is a raised corner inside the box that has to be removed but that's it... Not that big a deal.

Sorry it sold last year and I don't even have the air box anymore for any pics... This is the only pic of the box I had where I drilled holes

ok, because im undecided between the cone and the panel air filter, and wanted to see how the mod had to be...what did you drill the holes for???

I dyno'd a flat K&N vs. the diesel cone K&N. The flat filter was worth 1 more hp. Not sure what those extra holes are for. You need to trim a small amount of the plastic, for the cone to fit. Takes 5 minutes. As soon as you put the filter in, you will see where it needs clearance.:)

I should note that the dyno test was with stock heads. With Strikers, the results may differ more.

and how hp was the cone? the plastic that sticks out from the fender? just trying to get info before i make my first "mod" and before i decide for which filter to go for...

The holes were just to get more cold air from next to the radiator... Direct cold air :)

I cut half that side out of my box and to me it did help. But i don't have the plastic sheild in.
