Took the truck to the track friday night. Debated on whether or not to post. I was a little taken back by the times. I made a handful of passes. Beat 2 cobras, a corvette and a Mustang GT. The cobras were the closest, beat the driver not the car, cutting .4-.45 better reaction times than those 2 rookies but only beating by a fender, getting walked past just after the finish line. My times were pretty consistant, 4 of them varying by 2-3 hundredths. The others i ignored the light and tried to dial in the launch rpm and twice, third gear disappeared.

.009 RT
2.22 60 ft
9.33 1/8 ET
75.37 Mph

In my defense, the night showed some pretty weak times i thought for the vehicles running, but i didnt ask anyone how they were doing. I arrived at 930 pm. It was HOT, and humid. Dew was starting to form on the bed of my truck so i bet the track was a little damp ouside the groove. I ran stock tire pressure, 22, 19.5 and 18 psi. The truck spun rediculously off the line anything above 1800 RPM. Anything less it bogged and felt pig rich, growling hard off the line, but not pulling till it hit 4000 rpm. Second and third gear felt flat with a couple barely distinguishable bumps in power.

I loaded Torries 93 octane tune, and swapped the stock tune, back and forth twice within 45 minutes and the times were identical.

I raced my last truck 74 passes. I know how to drive it, and im comfortable and used to my new one. The short rolling burnouts to get the water off the street tires resulted in hard kicks to the left and right. Pretty unpredictable sometimes shaking the truck violently side to side. Caltracs seemed to be out of adjustment but i had no wrenches.

All 74 passes in my 05 were logged on a spreadsheet with the temperatures. I averaged 90.1 mph in it with 8.42 et. With a best of 1.79 60 ft and a 8.01 (planets aligned). I get these 06's are heavier on the 2500 frame, and the bed cover plus it still had the spare tire under it... and Im also seeing other RC's putting down 9.2-9.4. Its sad though, when i used to see guys posts those times, i would think to myself "That fucker cant drive"

Ive got 34k miles on the stock plugs and O2. I will be swapping these out, and doing the IAT resistor mod to see if it fixes the heat sink issue. I will get catless mids to replace the bellanger HFC. Take it to a dyno and take its vitals. Dialing in these caltracs, maybe removing the spare tire may help me a little on these times. I dont intend on racing this truck like i did the last. I just wanted to see what it would do. Without serious dough, i dont think this truck will be as fast as my 05, but its sure looks a hell of alot sexier. This could be one of the retarded cam 06's but im with Geodriller in saying $5,000 is a little much to figure out if it is. It still beat some rivals, and looked damn good doing it.

Doesn't the tune fix the timing issue when it gets hot? That's the whole reason I bought it. And I'm going to the track this Friday. I am curious to compare our trucks. What do you think you would do in 1/4 mile?

I wouldnt dare guess. My 60 ft was shit so my 1/8 hurt, but because my mph was so low, i dont think it would improve in the 1/4. Ill let you know the second week in november when i run it in DC

Hmm. Well mine as your truck were pretty close. Geo and me were swapping info and videos to compare. I'm dynoing on Friday aswell... Hope all goes good.

And about the tune, just read emails from torrie and he personally said his tunes stop the truck from pulling so much timing.

those times do seem a little on the slow side. especially for the mods done.

i would like to see what you pull with the tire and cover off. there is .15-.2 right there.

gettin the caltracs dialed in will help with the spin. i had them dialed for myself. 200lbs and no passenger and i was amazed how they helped with launch, control, and just being able to read the truck better in a slide.

maybe a tune and and some small things under the hood will help liven her up too. or maybe its just wishful thinking on my part. i never really wanted to really believe she was slower/less powerful than her 04-05 counterparts. maybe she is though.

either way i am glad you had a good safe time tho brother. cool to see her finnaly document some times. i always wanted to see what she would run. interested to see how it goes after you knock some things off the list.

did you run your other truck with no spare too? and did you have a bed cover/wing?

And you would recommend launching around 1800 rpm? And were you dumping the clutch is that why you spun so much

My 05 had the spare removed since day one. No cover. Pirelli Scorpion Zero's. Bracket racing consistant.

sorry, forgot it was an 1/8. proly wont loose .15-.2 then...proly more like .1....my bad

No 1800 was low. Real low. I tried feathering the throttle while easing out the clutch, but you cant make a habit out of that. I did try the 1800 feathered while easing into the throttle. it bogged like hell. I think the tires, dewpoint, caltracs out of adjustment, all effected the launch. My clutch did not slip at all.

reaction time is sure as hell not the problem. hells to the yeah:rock:

me and my buddy dyno dragged our bikes a couple years ago. i hit a .000 once and two that were under .010. he was shocked

i was at the track fri. it was my first time so i'm not a pro but my best run was
-.155 r/t
-2.20 60
-1/8 9.0
-13.9 1/4
stock tires 93 tune and lots of spinning

.02 faster 60 ft is neglible. but .3 faster in the 1/8 means there is something different. 458/500 will have alot to do with it. 410/426 thats 45hp and 75 tq more than this one, so those numbers do add up.

That's with just a tune too. Buy Jeff I bet the heat and humidity helped with your slower times... I bet your numbers in december will be up to par

When these trucks were reviewed were there any time differences with the tests. Like comparing 04-05's to 06's?

i just went and got the slips for 3 of my best runs and like i said i'm not a pro and i left some on the table

i wish we had some corrected numbers. trainman said there is a program on another forum that fih=gures it all up and corrects your runs. cant remember tho

and the power with the 93 oct tune on that truck is 415/453 jeff. the 425 was with the stock tune. hp was not really affected either way

Yours dyno'd at 410/426 Jeff?

And with just a tune I thought guys get more hp in the bottom and mid range.
