Ok so went to the ocean city car show.

Must say all the big tire muscle cars, did not impress me at all.

Ran some older mustangs, camaros few older mopars, coronet.

did some serious spanking down there.

why build a car for looks ?? 25 inch tires on the rear, running pump gas.

Not saying they were all slow, but the older muscle cars sure got beat up alot by modern cars.

alot of cars had the looks with the growl, but no bite at all. tons of noise without speed.

If these were so called "built" cars then they were not built very well. It doesnt take a whole lot to beat one of our trucks. My 68 Javelin has a mild 401 that would beat 99% of the trucks on this forum.

Modern cars are so much further advanced than a 50 year old car, you cant compare them. The difference is the old ones are beautiful and your next door neighbor isn't gonna have the same car.

Exactly !!Have you ever sat down and compared cubic inches and HP #'s !!Nowadays they're getting better HP #'s out of small blocks than they did with big blocks back when !!My 5.7 Hemi truck motor puts out 390 at the motor, then take a look at the 6.1's,what like 435hp,give or take !!Then factor in the weight difference !!!Nuff said !!:rock:

To be fair, so they should get beaten, they have 40+ years on the older muscle cars. Not always about speed, you simply can't buy looks, style, class and feel like that in cars of today. I'd love to see our Rams vs. something in 40 years too hahahahaha, no chance. You also see many imports and euros get dealt to at tracks by muscle cars too, depends on the cars/tuning, track, drivers, any car can be made to go fast.

I love my 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T, originally a 440ci magnum, #'s matching. I have since stored the #'s block and thrown in a custom built 540ci aluminium Hemi with F.A.S.T EFI twin TBs on top, 700hp and a load of torque, 3-link rear, little weight loss all remains stock appearing and 1760lbs lighter than the Ram, good for high 10s, 20mpg and still cruising.

You can power these things up to massive amounts and still own something not everyone can go buy in bulk amount and it beats seeing the same piece of plastic at every corner. At the end of the day, ANY car can run 10s, just got to pick what represents you and enjoy it. My Challenger gets the same amount of looks as The Batram and the Batram turns heads haha. To each there own but I'm proud to buy American and will always have at least 1 American vehicle. Without "old" cars, todays cars would not be. I love both, modern and classic vehicles. :)

Good looking vanishing point. I agree you can't get old car looks with a new ride, yea speed, comfort is there, but not as much style

SO!!! Kowalski didn't hit the doser, made it out of California and landed in NEW ZEALAND!!

Right On Mate!

You just have no taste if you don't like the old muscle :dontknow:

Currently working on a 1971 Hemi Cuda....

I never said that I didn't like the older cars, least I don't remember saying that.

I said it's kinda sorry to build a tubbed out muscle car thats slow :dontknow:
Ok, yeah cool. they built it for looks, but they built a car with looks of total speed, and don't have nothing to back it up. thats kinda stupid to me.

Maybe it's just me, I like some of the older muscle cars, they look great. and others look like donkey ass.

A tubbed out poser is stupid, I am with you there.

I am more of a build it basically stock with maybe a little performace mod that can't be seen type of thing.

Actually one thing I noticed right away about the 10 when I first got it is that it reminded me more of driving an old muscle car then the new cars do. Lots of torque in a heavy vehicle that isn't suppose to go that fast. Biggest difference is the 10 has a longer power band.

thank you buddy, thats all I was saying.

At least you seen my point.

I like that Carl said. " I love both, modern and classic vehicles".

I like how CArl put it that you can still have a true collectors item, matching #'s even, but still have a monster that can walk the walk too.

To put all that money into a 14sec vehicle doesnt make sence without peppin the step:burnout:

it's not about what car someone has, its about making it look super fast.

but only to run 14's or 15's. thats my only point I tried to make. my girls dad, has a coronet with a hemi in it, which is cool. and looking at another hemi coronet.

along with tons of other old muscle cars. thats fine to me.

I love older cars, I hate poser cars. maybe I should of used a different title to this thread :D
