HID Legalality

I am in SoCal and I have seen and found that HIDs are illegal in California unless it came on the car from the factory.

I know that everyone upgrades to them anyways, but when its inspection time, do any of you that have them, fail because of the HID's? or do they not catch it or give a damn?

I'm in SoCal and have installed HIDs on my 96 Ram Sport several years ago and never had a problem. I now have them on my 06 SRT10 Ram and use them all the time. I have them in the headlights & the Fogs' and had them the same on the 96. The only thing I recommend is that you make sure the height is set properly. If you are set high & the oncoming is a cop chances are he will nail you for it. Besides that you don't want to blind anyone.

I live in orange county and have had HID on every car i have ever owned no issues. You just dont wanna get some crazy 10,000k bulbs that are gonna piss a cop off if u get behind him lol. I rock 6000k on all my cars and they are perfect. No issues. I even had 6000k HID on a car that had to go through CHP inspection to get registered and they didnt say anything about the HID

It's not illegal unless you get caught

It's going to depend on the officer and what kind of day both of you are having.

I have 6000k in headlights and fogs with no issues. I had a motorcycle with 30,000k in it for sh!ts and giggles and never had issues either (except everyone flashed their brights at me).

Im looking to get 8000K's on the front and Fog lights. I only have 6000K on my bike. 30000K just sounds rediculous!

They didn't function very well other than looks factor. They were extremely blue and with the funky highway lighting we have in socal, it was hard to see. I rode once in the rain and couldn't see anything so I never rode in the rain again. These are the 30,000k in the pics.
