recently bought a 06 night runner and ive had no problems with it for a little over a month now. this morning i went out and pushed engine start and nothing. no crank, nothing. not even a click. volt gauge is at 12 volts, and i tried adding jumpers to a smaller batter i have for my vette but i dont know if that battery has any juice left in it. needless to say it didnt work either. volt gauge also remained at 12. not sure if this 10 cylinder needs more than 12 to start as ive started my sbc's on 12 and been fine. i live in FL so i dont think cca's is a problem, bought the truck about 60 miles from where i live. im not a dodge guy and new to this platform/motor so any of you gurus out there that have seen this before could chime in id appreciate it. my first thoughts are getting the batter tested, and no i dont have a code reader.

I'd get the battery tested. I had the same problem shortly after I bought the truck and it turned out to be the battery and even now with my battery being just over a year old it's starting to go AGAIN!

I had it tested and it has enough amps but the tester said "it's on the end of its life and I might have trouble in extreme warm/cold" but I have intermittent issues with it.

Start simple with the battery it'll be the easiest and cheapest fix. Good luck!

Do your accessories work with the key on? If so could be a bad start button.

That's what I was thinking too, I have heard of it a few times where the button is bad also.

I don't know if your SRT-10 is an automatic or not. If so, it may be in the gear selector linkage. The linkage can get off and the computer will think your trying to start the truck while in reverse. I had this happen to me. From now on when I park I make sure I press the selector handle firmly into park. Never had a problem since.

I second this one it has happened to me too, if your truck is an auto make sure it's all the way in park if not it will not start.

Lol at the Auto QC guys :)
We too can have a problem with the neutral safety switch on manual trannys. It will not let the engine start if it's out. You can simply (as I've done) unplug the switch by clutch pedal and twist the wires together from the plug, not the switch! Good luck. And yes Amperage matters as much as voltage! You can have 12 volts (should b 12.5+) but have a bad cell in battery and not have enough amps to start! If your headlights are bright and don't dim off while trying to start, go for the neutral switch on either auto ( adjust linkage) or manual (bad safety switch):D

x3.... Sounds like this is exactly your problem, when I first bot it mine caught me off guard. Make sure your [P] is actually lit..... if your lucky and your selector still moves put it in [N] and walah it's easier than wrestling with it not switching over to park.
