I am looking to buy some workout gear for at home and equip my garage, but I really am not sure of what to buy. Do I want one of those a million in one contraptions or do I want to get a bunch of specific machines? I've been going to the gym for a little while now and do most everything with free weights, but sometimes the machines are a must. Whats the general consensus?

There seems to be a abundance of machines for sale locally on kijiji, but just not sure what the best one to get is.

I like a really big jug of BEER! I can adjust the wieght by how much i put in it and how fast i empty it!:D:p

I'm a gym fanatic. My goal is to be know as a gym gorilla instead of a gym monkey :D What equipment you should buy will depend on your goals. What are they?

go to a gym
hometraining sucks , and you stop in less than 3 months

after that u put your garbage home equipment at ebay...;)

Home gym equipment stinks. Most of it is overpriced, and the value drops like crazy. Gym memberships are very affordable now. I suggest just staying at the gym. Save the space in your home, and it gives you a seperate location from home to let out aggression.

I am definitely a gym rat... strongman, powerlifting, MMA! My whole life I've either been racing things or in the gym. I agree with the others, keep the gym in the gym! If that is not an option, don't waste your $ on home equipment. Search the web for used commercial equipment. If you have the $ look for "ATLANTIS" equipment. It is the best!

My delema is finding time to drive 40 minutes each way to a decent gym and pay the $89/month rates. Between work and my child custody dates it is very hard for me to get to the gym on a regular basis. I think setting up my own gym in my garage would be the tits.

I have found a package deal of 12 commercial machines that I am really interested in and I can get them for about 25% of new value. This stuff is like new and only 1.5 hours away from me.

Anyone know anything about these machines?

Not to sound like a dick, but FYI your Adductor Complex muscles and your Hip Abductor Complex are extremely important muscle groups for serious athletes! Adductor and Abductor machines are used by most if not all Olympic, world, and national record holders!

$89/m is outragous. There are 15 gyms within 15 miles of my house, none of which charge more than $40/m. I use the gym on base, so its free for me, but still look around. You can find something affordable.

Im in Alberta, everything is expensive here. The local gyms in my home town suck balls.

The only major drawback I see to most of that equipment is the amount of weight offered. If your goal is general fitness, then you'll be alright. If your goal is bigger than that, you'll end up with a bunch of equipment you've outgrown.

You should see our gyms at work, $100,000's of equipment. I walk by it all the time!:D
