Hey all,

From time to time i will be sitting in a drive-thru- the engine idle will drop down to 450 then go back up to normal idle around 700 or so.

It only drops for a moment. Any ideas why this happens? I do not get an engine code and the truck runs perfectly otherwise.

thanks

You need a new/to check the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). Common problem.

I have a similar problem: every once in awhile, I will be rolling along and the RPM will suddenly jump up to 5500RPM. This usually happens in first or second gear, when there is someone trying to race next to me. Anyone have any idea what might cause this? :dontknow: :D

Disconnect battery and PCM connectors. Replace TPS. Hook up battery and PCM connectors. Turn ignition on and push the gas pedal slowly all the way down and back up twice. Turn the ignition off then back on and start the truck. This allows the PCM to adjust to the TPS.

I'm sure you could probably go without disconnecting the PCM connectors, but it's not really that hard to disconnect on these truck.

Agreed. It literally takes less than a minute to unplug them. I've had mine off dozens of times.

Great. Thanks guys.

Also,

I have searched for U-Joints for the truck and have found many different sized and varities, what is your suggestion for U-joint replacement?
