Just gauging interest at this point, but how many of you would be interested in coming to a private 1/8th mile drag day at Barona for 6 hours? Im looking at renting the track in mid-late April to do some testing on my drag bike and finally get my pro license. Goal is to get 20 total people so everyone has the chance to get quite a few runs in.
Will do. Right now I am still working on getting quotes from other drag strips in SoCal. Barona wants $2000 for 6 hours fully staffed, trying to see if I can get a 1/4 mile track for close to the same price. Problem is going to be the track rental may not be available on a week end. Still waiting on an availability schedule from them.
Blake who own Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield charges about $10 Large for a private rental but maybe we can get him to compete with Borona's price as a personal favor for me.
$10 is definitely a big leap from the $2 that Barona wants. I sent them an email as well asking for a quote. I also emailed Irwindale and Fontana. Only quote I have gotten is Barona.
Gotta remember the location. Cali blows for land costs, insurance, and whiny hippies that complain about noise.
When there is a private TNT you need 100 cars that pay $100 each making it 10 large. Like I said Blake might play ball with us as a favor to us to compete with Barona's price. Also Famoso is a world class drag strip. How does Barona and any other place compare?
It would be great if he could work on the price for us. We would definitely need a more people than 20 though. I am working my contacts in the NHRA motorcycle community to get some local racers out but since it is the beginning of the season, they may not want to play and chance blowing something.
I agree, my bike is set up for 1/4 and the series I am running this year is mainly 1/4. Would need quite a few more people to get the price somewhat reasonable for somewhere like Famosa though.
Tribal how would your bike compare to this video I shot last week: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rE5blpvJGZs]7 Second Drag Bike Famoso Feb 24 2013 - YouTube[/ame]
I might be interested if it's in late April, depending on location. I have no problem chipping in some cash.
I would lose against the 7 sec bike. Looks like the left lane bike rane a 9 something so would probably win that one though. Mine is a 09 ZX-14, all stock motor except open exhaust, tune, and a carbon intake box. Fastest time my bike has ran was an 8.78 @ 159. Here are a couple pictures from the previous owner. We plan to build the motor, turbo it, and spray a progressive shot. Going to run it this year with stock motor so I can get licensed and get comfortable with it. We are shooting for mid to low 6's by next year.
I still haven't gotten a quote from any other track. Im thinking the 1/4 mile tracks are going to be around double the price so it really depends on how many people I can get in on it.
