I thought my erratic tach problem was maybe just a bad or dirty connector........wrong!!!!...just noticed while driving her the first time this year to work that...the tach needle went all the way around and is now under the stop pin...WTF!!!....Im guessing cluster!!

sounds that way,try unhooking the battery for 10 minutes. Then see if its o.k.

I was thinking of trying that at lunch time...I'm a pessimist but..still got my fingers crossed tho!!!...I've got a warranty but would rather not have some one touch my girl..:):):)

your engine is having an identity crisis and thought it was rotary and so the tach tried to compensate and rev to 10k RPMs

Unfortunately I've seen a few 06's with tach issues. I can only believe its in the cluster, but other than gauge faces, I think 06 clusters are the same. I do know 06' went to a different type communications setup do whatever is between cluster and PCM could be culprit.

it acted like a bad_dirty connector...erattic at times fine most other times.....now i just noticed this this morn:dontknow::dontknow:

Before anything, try to reset your cluster.

with ignition off, hold down the trip button, while holding down, turn ignition on but do not start vehicle.
try that and see if it comes back

You did get the info I sent you right? If not I can resend it to you, but do what MoparConnection said and try the reset procedure first.

yeah got the info...checked that connector....even released it and bent the tab back....didnt have the truck out till now...thought i had it until this morn!!!

unhooked batt( witch was just a touch loose) did 3 summersalts and hooked it back up, turned key on an it swept back into position...whamo she works now guys!!!!...for now i guess?

Faulty tachs are common. Mine hangs low sometimes 300-400 rpms until it the engine revs above 1800 then it jumps up. It responds slow when powershifting. Pretty expensive fix

WOW this is funny:D

Just came in the house to do a search cause mine started doing the same thing this afternoon:dontknow: I'll try what Robert said and see if that helps.
