It's really low, although I have never shifted another srt other than this one, it doesn't feel stock as if the whole assembly has been changed.... I could be wrong though

If it's your truck, take a picture of the base of it. That will tell us.

It's my truck I just bought, I haven't had the time to drive it, much less take pics. The pics that I have are actually from the man I bought it from. As soon as I get some time with it. On the other hand, when I did drive it, 3rd was a little hard to find, idk I'm clueless, just trying to get some help :)

3rd gear always takes some practice. You'll get it down once you've had a little more seat time.

Third is tough. If you let go of the shifter when you push it our of 2nd you should feel it "snap" into the middle position, which is 3rd and 4th. This helped me get the feel for third.

Yeah if 3rd is hard to find it's likely a... Well, it's been said. Are those safe altered like that?

I recall being on an 8th mile track... Mid-day, September 2008, PCB, Florida. I was reving her up at the starting line waiting for the autumn tree to turn spring (red, yellow to green; you know..). Sweat dripping down my face because.. Well, :s:I was scared damn it.. I never race, but there I was for the first time trying it out, measuring my manhood and building ego.. Once the green light illuminated I took off hard with a great launch; better than I imagined I could. I was ahead of my opponent (who shall remain nameless).. RPMs were well above 4,800.. The aftermarket blue shift-light kicked on. [SHIFT]Okay, :driver:2nd gear now @ 5200 rpms.. WOOOOOO there I went, back tires screamed slightly as :DI caught a nice scratch.. Barreling down the 660 sweaty palm on my stocker Hurst about to take this race for a victory.. C'mon 3rd!! We're almost there.... :drool:The shift..... :eek:F&@K!! RPMs shot up, motor roared and her ass raised up slightly as.. I was BACK in 1st slowing down and my opponent ran my azz down for an embarrassing and unforgiving pass... ........ ........ Yeah :dontknow:I fouled up that one... :dong:I never raced her again nor did I keep that stocker. I found that JTSVP produces a fantastic shifter. Highly recommended.

Wow that sucks, hopefully this thing isn't a stock hurst, but if it is I will be replacing that along with a few other thins

I would bet it is just a cut stock shifter like the others have said. I have a B&M in mine and love it. Any aftermarket shifter is an upgrade over the stock hurst.

If you hear tranny noise through the shifter chances are it's an aftermarket, No noise more than likely a stocker.

There is actually a lot of noise/whining; so maybe I got lucky??

looks like a 2006 stock hurst shifter that has been possibly cut short and welded

The stockers are very well insulated for noise, lots of noise and whining can almost gurantee it is some kind of aftermarket. I went from stocker to a B&M and unreal how noisy it got. It narrowed and shortened the pattern which is why I upgraded. In the process of installing 1/4" Leather between shifter arm and shifter assembly to eliminate the noise passing through the assembly to the stick.
