When i cam my truck do i need a special tune to make run? And wat cam do yall recommend
The MOPAR cam is not worth doing. Contact rottenronnie, Venomous1 or Justin and they can set you up with a custom cam profile to suit your needs.![]()
Anyone know what one should expect to pay for cam and install? also any other parts needed besides a tune? been going back and forth on this mod or not. Cant beat the sound of a cammed out v10
A cam install on our trucks is pretty labor intensive. Book time is around 15 hours if I remember correctly. Cam, lifters, fluids (oil and coolant) and gaskets I would guess in the $1500 - $2000 range depending on the labor rate of the shop you choose.
Never driven or seen anything other than Mopar but mine seems fine. Real nice loaping idle. :dontknow:
The MOPAR cam is worth 8hp if I remember. A custom cam can be ground to suit future mods. As an example we did the Striker cam in mine a year before I did the Striker heads. If a future mod was to do ported heads and intake, you would want the proper cam for that.
A cam change is a total pain in the butt, Do it one time only!
Yes you need cam, springs, pushrods, plus gaskets, fluids, and any unforeseen necessities like tensioner pulley, idler pulley, spark plugs, yes a tune for a real cam.

There are Mopar and Comp grinds that are close to stock specs and can get away with those parts. A cam that'll make power is going to need springs and pushrods.
Wasn't there a conversation about weak stock springs?
