Has anyone had their A/C compressor fail? Has any one replaced on their own? Mine is startng to sound like a mini "jack hammer" A/C still works fine but I know its on its way out. A/C off, no noise. So I am guessing thats what it is. Anyone else experiance this? :dontknow:

It could be the a/c clutch going out.

You should be able to,you can take the belt off and trun the compressor by hand that way you will be able to feel the bad clutch if it is bad.

One serpentine belt sir. Spin all accessories and pulleys at this time as well to check bearings. ;)

I was fixing to ask a similar question. I have literally used the A/C a few times, I can count on two hands the times I've used it. It's usually raining and the windows are up. I went to pick the lady up for lunch last week so I thought to be a nice guy I'll get it nice and cold before I get there so I was driving with the windows down and A/C on, pulled up to a light was sitting there and heard the A/C kick on for a second, it was loud, didn't sound funny just louder than I remember. I don't think I've ever been outside the truck while the A/C was on. The lady's G8 I thought had a crazy loud A/C but my truck is just a little louder. You can't hear it driving and you can't hear it with the windows up just windows down sitting at a light. Heck it's probably normal and I'm just not use to it.

Are you sure it's the A/C and not the fan? The fan gets pretty loud at times.

No I can hear the fan it just clicks on hear it run clicks off. The A/C sounds like a A/C just loud, like I said it's not much louder than the G8, heck it might be because I only use it once every few months.

Pulled the belt today, all pulleys feel fine when i spin them by hand. Probably just nature of the beast. Or me being paranoid again :D

Mine cycles on and off even in our hot temps. You should have AC system checked, you might be low on Freon.

I think its ok. Ill see if the ford guys next door can handle that. Otherwise ill have it checked this weekend.
