So a week ago I noticed a clunk when turning, loose steering, and just a general drift all over the road. Grab my tie rods and both have a lot of play so I ordered new Moogs. Got them in so I jacked her up today to change them out, took the tire off and jiggled the tie rod and noticed a whole lot more play than last time and that my entire rack was moving. So I looked at the bolts that mounted the steering rack to the truck, one was backed all but two turns out and the other was backed out about half way? Tightened it back down and all my steering problems are gone. Has this happened to anyone before?

Think there was a TSB on that problem kinda why I was waiting to see how this bump steer kit pans out. It's always been said there rack movement causing issues. There actually a brace that reinforces the gearbox on 3/4 and 1 tons with gearboxes that I'm looking at something similar as a better fix ;)
Could be simple as poly bushings?
Could be all have loose bolts like the damper issue in 04:dontknow:
I know I'll check mine tomorrow, but even lowered 2" front I always thought mine drove fine. Now 305 wide tires in ruts in the highway will make you feel like you're all over the place but the bump steer kit thing sounds like a misdiagnosis IMO.

The bumpsteer kit will not only help the terrible angle of the tie rod which makes truck twitchy on hard bumps but it will also allow us to run shorter sway bar end links so that we can actually have it parrellel to the ground as it is in tented to be and work properly.

Hmmm really?

So i'll have to cut and weld them up again...

Only if you want to. Right now they can't be shorter because if they were sway bar would be hitting tie rod. So once it moves lower you will have more clearance to shorten if you would like. I bet if you look your sway bar is not parrelel now.

I can give it another check but it looked pretty parallel to me... :dontknow:

You better get your lazy self back under that truck and remove that sway bar link hahaha :D. Extra weight on your front end homie lol..

Nah I slap it back on sometimes, like possible cruises through the hill country twisties out here chasing Viper cars, lol. :burnout:
