how much horse power pick up am I looking at with a cam install :rock:

8-12hp, unless you have an 06 with issues like mine had, then you will pick up a ton!
I should add, that for the hassle of doing a cam, you should do some head work also, 'cause that is where the power is.

Not worth the time/money unless you do head work
For the new guys I went from 387hp/410tq to 472hp/509tq with the Striker cam and a lot of hard work from rottenronnie.:rock::rock:

Wait..are you saying you picked up almost 100 hp from a cam?
Yes......but I have one of the special 06's that had a retarded (position) cam. We think they did it to try and meet emissions.

There are a few threads from a few years ago that dealt with the 06's that were down on power. I was on the same dyno several times. The #'s are legit.
Ronnie and I joke that my truck used to "hook" really well. Well more like it couldn't spin the tires. After the cam and tune, I took on Jason's modded Lightning from a roll twice and beat him both times. No video, but Ronnie was in the passenger seat and Jason caught up and had a priceless WTF? look on his face!

When I was N/A, I changed my cam, rods, and springs also install the UD pulley. I gained 90 hp.

Man I'm no mechanic that's why had Tony. You know the rockers and the springs and the rods All in the heads. Under the valve covers all that stuff.
Depends on the cam, a proper custom grind should pick up at least 40-50whp and wtq. Here's a viper we recently did:

So one person says 8-12 and another says 40-50...this is why it's taken me so long to decide what route to go and whether or not to put a cam in :/
really it depends on your set up and goals..
to compliment a cam properly it has to be set up for what you have, meaning exhaust, head work, intake work size of valves
a lot of things come into play
you can put a huge cam that will make 60 hp in a truck with nice heads , valve train, put it in a stock truck and it may make 10-15 hp
you need to work things as a package, not as in what a certain cam will do or make.
and then some, just want a cool sound, that can be done also,
but take what you have, what you want out of it, go from there.
be sure to invest in good push rods, valve springs, and if you plan on getting upwards of 600 lift, think about rocker arms, oem will not last long at that or above lift
our latest combo on a customer from new jersy I think ended up at 560 rwhp, really nice sound, but really needs headwork to really bring the power out of the cam
