Reverse issues

Mine doesn't pop out.

Didn't have time to check it out yesterday.

There is a definite METAL to METAL tap when I try and push the shifter to the far right. Feels like its inside the shifter.

I wonder if any of those screws in the shifter got loose...?

I had to work late last night and did not get a chance to spend much time on it.

I loosened the 2 screws on the shifter that keep it centered or go more left or right and doesn't really make any difference.

No. JTSVP Gen 3 shifter.

Worked perfectly up until cant go into reverse without heavy effort.

If all 6 forward speeds are ok I don't think the shifter alignment is a problem.

My truck started doing the hard engagement into reverse. I am also getting erratic speedometer readings which leads me to believe it is speed sensor related and the truck is getting an input to activate the reverse lockout solenoid, pull that out and see what happens.

My truck doesn't have a reverse lock out. There aren't any wires connected to the transmission at all. On the solenoid itself I was advised to remove the spring inside as that will make engagement into reverse easier. I removed it when I first did the swap.

The truck went literally from easy shifting- to a very hard time moving the shifter to the far far right for reverse over night

If it's not the shifter the only thing left is internal. Can the sel be removed to be sure it's not the issue?

Reset the shifter. Many have had this problem and resetting it generally fixes it. The other possible culprit that comes to mind is the adjustment springs on the latest JTSVP shifters. If one of them worked it's way out, I could see this problem suddenly popping up.

Yeah that's exactly what I am thinking. Something inside the shifter is loose or out of place or whatever.

Tonight I am going to remove the shifter completely and see whats what.

Pulled the top part of the shifter out- where the -left to right- springs are located. Removed them and looked over everything.

Everything was fine. Still plenty of grease to keep everything smooth.

If I have a chance I am going to throw the truck up on a lift at work and take a look at this reverse solenoid.

Did you try resetting the shifter? That's the first thing I would have tried.

What do you mean by resetting the shifter?

I pulled the top out of the base. I mean the entire "stick" part of the shifter... Not sure what else I could have done.

Removed the entire shifter... man what a pain...

Anyway. I didn't see anything out of the ordinary. The reverse lock out solenoid little "bulb" was there- I used my crowbar to move it out and in- it still has lots of tension.

I'm going to jack up the truck and remove it completely and see if there is any change. Worst case I can cut out a plate and bolt that on and remove the solenoid assembly entirely.

Here's the thing... I already removed the spring.

And,

Reverse went from- no problem going into reverse- to lots of problem going into reverse over night.

There is no spring in there.
