So next question then...where do I get 4.88 gears for my 04 truck?

What you'll find if you sift through there long enough is that trucks with 4.88's feel much quicker/lighter, but really aren't. For someone like you who is after a faster "feeling" truck, and doesn't care about a lower time at the track or through a stop light, 4.88's provide a lot of bang for the $.
You could Tony at JTS Performance. If you call him, tell him the guys on the VTCoA sent you and so we expect him to start posting here more.
I'm not sure if Scott at Venomous Racing has this stuff or not. But, if you tell him Paul sent you, he might hook you up BIG TIME.

Well with saying that, do the 4.56 gears do the same thing or would they actually help with a faster time and faster "feeling"?

4.56's won't make your truck any quicker either.

But neither the 4.56 or 4.88 will slow me down any either though right? As far as times go

4.88's are going to make it harder to get traction and so they could slow you down. I don't know anyone that has 4.56's who is feels they slow them down. Is this a test? lol

Lol no its not a test. Its just a bunch of questions from someone who knows basically nothing about rear end gears. Just wanting to make the right decision and I think ive got it. I def appreciate all the input.

There has to be at least one member in your part of the world that has a truck with 4.56's or 4'88's that you could try?

Either keep what ya got or go 4.56. 1st to 2nd shifts are very soon with 4.56 IMO and I personally think most trucks would benefit from 4.10 and am doing to mine currently.

Charlie, (bmxam962) has an 05 QC with a 6 speed conversion and I have drove his truck once but im sure there is a fairly significant difference in feeling from driving a QC with 4.56 over a RC with 4.56. I mean I have no doubt that it if I go with either the 4.56 or 4.88 that I will be completely happy.

4.10 just doesn't have that "burst" of acceleration that im looking for and wanting. Like I said, im very rarely ever going to go to the track so I want some street fun. Mods will get you the burst of acceleration you're looking for. Honestly would leave 4.10 and mod it a lil or go 4.56. 4:30 would likely be perfect

Question, if you're rolling along at 10mph in first gear and floor the accelerator does your truck spin or hook up?

I will be completely honest and tell you that I really dont know because I have never tried it at such a low MPH like that. The lowest i have tried something like that was in 1st gear turning about 3500 rpm and then stomp it and it just goes with so spin.

My near stock 06 RC will roast the horse meat at 10 mph when mashed like a batch of Thanksgiving spuds...With good meat depth on the only tires for an SRT10...
When you do that does it go with some spin or no spin?

When I lay the hammer down in 1st gear at a 3500rpm launch then it goes with no spin at all. I have some really good tires though and it may help with no spin at that launch. Running KDW2 tires
