So I went to lunch today and as I was waiting to turn into the parking lot my truck stalls. I go to start it and nothing but a single clunk, tried multiple times to start and only get a single clunk....sounds like the starter might be engaged and not releasing!!!! Thoughts?
Thanks
Paul

I'd test the battery first. Check terminals. Sounds simple, but sometimes it is.

Terminals good and tight. I will check battery tonight but have to get it home first. and then that's the other problem, I'm trying to find some one to tow my truck but the three services that have shown up refused to tow it because it's to low?????

Let me get this straight..your ride is up for nomination for truck-of-the-month and it's dead in a Wendy's parking lot??..that's not looking good for the voters..;)

flatbed tow shouldn't have a problem, specifically request a flatbed when calling, used to do it all the time when i worked for AAA towing in 98-99

a decent driver will have some wood to take the angle out of it, a lot of regular tow trucks don't want to mess with using dollies on the rear, they just want to crank it up in the air and take off and thats when the other end gets toasted

UPDATE:
Definitely not the battery, just replaced with a new one.....same result.......just a clunk. Battery gauge reads 10 volts with the key in the start position, when I hit the start button I just get a clunk......not a click, click click like when you have a dead battery:dontknow:

get under there with a hammer when someone is trying to crank it and beat the starter lightly she should go.

Check your grounds. Battery at 10 volts will not start a truck. You should see 12.5 volts with key in the on position.

Mine did the same with a 3 month old battery. It wasn't starter but it takes a hell of a battery to jump these trucks. I was at Sebring raceway and a BMW didn't come close
