My prior ride was also an '04 Ram. QC with a 4.7 and 5 speed manual. I bought it new in 11 of '03. Put 188,000 on it up until I bought my '04 SRT 10 RC in 8 of '15. In 188,000, I never had to go inside the engine. Ie: head gasket, valve, etc. Not even a water pump.

Anyone out there with a high mileage 8.3 that has not had to go inside the motor?

Just curious...

I purchased new and now approaching 160,000 miles. Its been the most reliable vehicle I've owned. I've only used factory fill fluids, mobil 1 0-40 changed every 3K miles. I had the power steering pump go while under warranty. Recently installed my 2nd serp belt and tensioner. Still on original clutch though I'm about to install my 7th set of tires. Truck has not been babied and still all original. In the next month or two I'll pull the intake and replace ignition parts.

Had 22,000 when I bought her & now has 110,000. Take care of her & she will take care of you.

I purchased my #1900/'04 new with 8 miles on the odo. @ 9k miles one of the catalytic converters choked up and glowed red hot. Had that replaced under warranty along with TPI sensor a few thousand miles later. That's a bout all. OH and around 60k miles the tranny took a dump for unknown reasons. It's not like I race her or beat her up. She was always garage kept and fluids changed on schedule. Now with a new replaced T-56 and at around 72k mi I just had her third clutch installed and she runs smooth as a baby's bottom. She sounds best at 2,000 rpm's :dontknow:IMO. She may be retired soon if her planned replacement is secured.:D

HELLCAT would be the only replacement for these trucks! especially if you are over 200#'s :D
