Silver 04 being brought back to life

Very cool project. Always fun to see something brought back to life like that.

Getting the tranny out that quick is impressive. How hard is it to get the upper bellhousing bolts? Enough room to just reach up there or does it require some witchcraft?

Not hard at all with the right combination of extensions and swivels.

I recently pulled my 6sp out to replace the clutch slave. I'm no professional mechanic but I can spin a wrench or two when needed. Took me about 2hrs to get it on the ground. Most of the time was spent figuring out how to get it from the truck to the ground without dropping or crushing me. If I had a transmission lift it would have been out much faster. Basic job to do...

I agree, it is a really simple job.

Update PLEASE!!:confused::chain:

I am going to go with the new block, forged rods and pistons, all new bearings, picked up a set of heads with 12k miles on them from an 06 viper. I will be ordering the rods and pistons this week and start assembly once they arrive. I will post more pictures once the good stuff starts showing up.

Since your so bored at work how about another update??:confused::rofl:

I am dropping the old block off on Monday here:

Store Home page

He will be supplying the K1 rods, Diamond pistons and rings as well as replacing the damaged sleeve in the old block, honing the other cylinders and balancing the entire rotating assembly. I will post pictures when I have updates.

Block and crank were dropped off today. I will post the couple pictures I took at the shop. The only other place I have seen this many enclosed trailers, toter homes and race cars is at the track.

The fastest Viper Powered Challenger Drag Pak car is currently in his shop now so that makes me feel pretty good that I made the right decision with who will be doing the machine work.

This is what I was greeted by as I pulled up to the shop. Drag Pak Challenger in the enclosed trailer.

He mainly specializes in Hemi builds but does a fair amount of Viper work, hence the reason one of these blocks is not like the others:

A couple cars hanging out in the shop, the white challenger is the fastest Drag pak car in the country, runs 8.70s with Viper power:

Any ETA on completion? Maybe Santa will have room in his sleigh!

3 weeks to engine completion, 1 week for me to reinstall and test drive. After verification that the truck is running and driving as it should it will go to paint.
