    Hey guys

I am fed up with my 7" flip out Clarion cd player. Doesn't read CD's anymore and the screen is all wavy.

I have had a Double Din modified bezel for a few years now. I think bought it from E.

Does anyone have a write-up on what needs to be done to get a double din cd player in there? Does it mount the same? Whats needed? Pics appreciated!

    Thank you

    Pete

A double din cd player with a screen. I want it to play Cd's sync up to my Iphone via usb cable. And that's pretty much it. I don't care if it plays DVDs. Id rather it play blue-ray if that's even possible.

You already have the bezel which is important, now I recommend you to go on eBay to find the radio. I've seen some pretty beefed up name brand ones on there that do everything you just asked for on the cheap. And don't require cutting or drilling to fit your set up now.

No. The mounting points and brackets are already there on your truck. If the radio mounts like a stock radio which many after market radios do now a days you should be fine. If a kit is required, the radio will tell you and give you part number info. This is a common mod, so you shouldn't have to worry about fitment or having to fab your own brackets.

You will have to do some cutting of the plastic inside to get the double din to be able to fit flush all the way back inside the dash.

Had a double din put in my truck in Alaska. Paid an arm and a leg. I should have just done the work myself. The shop had taken the original faceplate and cut into it and with bondo tried to make it look clean. But that was a couple years back now and they do sell double din faceplates.

Absolutely...you can get them on ebay or there are a few people who make them custom "color matched" here in the forum as well.

@ViperPete which one did you end up with? Would you recommend it?

Sorry for being off-topic. I'm looking for a good stereo and can't make my mind up which one is the best.

There are so many aftermarket stereos that it's hard to find a good one. Many of them have one digit difference in their name. Anyways I've been reading reviews on the nets and they are all hype. Most of them downplay the negatives and hype features like 7" as if it would be that important. I've found a different blog. The thing I liked about this 2din roundup is that it says it how it is. No sugar coating no BS. Even so there are ten or more head units on the site. How to pick the right one?

    Any tips?

I went with the Kenwood DNX573S and really like it. Screen quality is nice, plays DVD's (but not Blu-rays), apple car play already installed and I can connect my phone to the unit with either bluetooth or USB cable and apple lightning port to USB adapter. Microphone picks up my voice nicely so I don't have to yell when I'm talking on the phone while driving.
