Im looking on buying a 2dr srt 10 6speed and wanted to know if one year is better than the other? Im looking at reliability, strength of transmission, rear end. Any other issues.

I could be wrong here, but I believe you are better off buying a 05 or 06. Pretty sure the 04's have smaller brakes on them.

Oh this is simple. The 2005's are the best and red is the fastest!

The 04's have smaller front brakes and 4.10 gears. (you can upgrade that stuff though)
The 06's have the new front end, weigh a lil bit more, and have a PITA TIPM system that if it starts going bad your kinda screwed.

Find one with the mileage and in the condition you want and don't worry about the rest! JMHO;)

Nah you should give him your opinion. You've literally owned ALL different specs of the trucks though out the years.

Im actually curious if you have a fav year.

That was my opinion. I'll purchase any year.

I agree that 2005's are the best but not sure about the red part. More like silver is the fastest.

Well said. I couldn't agree more!

OP don't worry about the year, honestly. All years are absolutely great trucks. Some guys who drag race actually like the smaller front calipers on the 04's as they can fit different wheel sizes easier. Unless you plan on doing road course racing I don't feel as if the upgraded front brakes make much of a difference. The 04's do not struggle to stop, they actually brake very well.

04 I did a lot of research before my second one . The easiest 1 to get parts for.

Well to be honest, as long as its an RC and not one of them big slow QC's he cant really go wrong. :chain:

If I was looking for a RC it would be a Blue with white stripe 2004. Install bigger brakes and the 4.56 rear end and call it a day.

There is 1 for sale on the site from WI , I believe

'04s do not have any knock sensors.
'04s have TRW 2 Pistons Slide Calipers instead of 05/06 TRW 4 Piston Monoblock Calipers.
'04s have a 4.10:1 Ring and Pinion Gear instead of 05/06 4.56:1. Same Carrier.
'06s have a different front end, controller, weigh more, and seem to be a touch slower than 04/05.
All years have leaky oil cooler and power steering lines.

Everything I can remember, there are maybe 1 or 2 minor differences I can't think of.

However,

'04s were an option on a Ram 1500, not a model. Some insurances companies are cheaper on '04s.
'06s had an option for heated seats.

That's great. Thanks!

I've got a beauty here in Wi, have it listed in the For Sale section under "2005 RC 12K miles".

Ah ha! knew there was more i was forgetting.

'04s have the engine crossmember bolted and welded in. 05/06 do not.

06 is the hardest to get parts for.

if i had a choice, i would buy an 05 for the 4.56 gears.

04 brakes aren't smaller, but they're two piston calipers, as opposed to 4, however they perform just as well on the track - from experience.
