Hi I have just bought a 2004 SRT 10 in New Zealand It has a Volant cold air box, JTS Venom throttle body, Belanger Headers, Catless Twin 3" exhaust with Flowmasters or similar Electric cut outs in front of rear wheels and twin 2.5" tail sections with hot dogs to keep it legal. Dyno tuned by previous owner....GOES GOOOD!!!! Also is Right Hand Drive, still finding out who did the conversion. They claim 600hp, dynoes can read whatever you want them too.

How the heck does it have exhaust on both sides of the rear bumper? Did the previous owner cut out the bumper cover on the left side, or can you buy one already molded? Sweet ride by the way!

Custom Exhaust system made at a muffler shop who is a Hot Rod enthusiast. The front pipes to the mufflers are also wrapped. Mufflers look like flowmasters.
The plastic cut out pieces came with her, not that I could or would put them back in.
Having a balanced looking exhaust makes it easier for me to drive straight lolo_O

As for the 600hp badge and the dyno etc.
If it ain't I really don't care. I will make sure it is, I see a lower ratio rear end and a proper tune on the horizon. 100kph speed limit here 6th gear will never get used.
To me it's an integrity issue. It says it is, so it has to be. I will make it happen
I tell you what, when you mash it on our twisty rough roads she takes a bit of hanging on to. Major adrenalin rush. I know I am still alive. Great cruiser too
But fuel is $2.41/liter here so I have to control the usage somewhat. Socialist govt

Welcome Kent! She is a beastly beauty! I've read here somewhere that your "Smiles per gallon will supersede the Miles per gallon" ;D $2.41/liter wow! It's $4.99/gal here at a local VP Fuel station in San Diego for 91 octane and $14.99/gal for 100 octane LOL!!! Enjoy!

You guys are getting robbed with gas prices. I'm here in Savannah, Ga, run only 93 octane, and it's $2.93 per gallon.

I responded to you on another thread, asking about your gas prices, but I got the answer I was looking for right here. On a side note, have a set of Caltracs traction bars installed. I just had mine installed last week, and oh man what a difference. Off the line she squats, and then launches hard. Can't squeal the tires like I used to now.

Kiwi SRT10: You indicate you have a 2004. You definitely need to change the rear end gears to what the '05 and '06 have ... 4.56's .. Makes one hell of a difference, trust me you'll like it. Be careful here, there's a difference in the carriers between the 4.10's and the 4.56's ... You'll either need a special set of gears or the proper carrier.

A special set of gears, who makes those? With terminology different between US and NZ I may need a hand on some things. Sometimes it is hard to shop out of the US as the names of things are different on some things, eg ring and pinion is crown wheel and pinion here. I had a 68 Riviera before and pretty much had that sorted. Now it is start again.

In more simple, hopefully more portable language, the carrier is the piece that is the differential, it holds the ring gear and the differential pieces.

There is a "carrier break" between the 4.10 and 4.56 gear sets where the carrier is thicker/more offset for the 4.56's. Using a 4.10 carrier with 4.56's requires a ring gear spacer [ NOT a good idea here ] or a special set of 4.56 gears, specifically the ring gear being thicker, or replace the carrier with the proper one which is the best option, and you get new limited slip clutches this way also.

    Kiwi,
I was looking at your pictures, and noticed your upper radiator hose looks collapsed. It might just be the angle you used when you took the picture, but you might want to inspect it.

Yeah you are so right. I drove overnight up from Wellington, washed her and took some pics. I too spotted the top hose on the photo. I went straight back out to the garage and took radiator cap off and found the rubber swollen, that was replaced that very day. There are always things to find and fix. That's all part of the fun.

Good to hear you replaced it.
I've had my 05 QC since May of this year, and as of today I've done the following: New tires, shocks, struts. I've completely replaced all suspension and steering parts, front wheel bearings, billeted and slotted rotors with ceramic pads, added a Mcgaughys 2/4.5 lowering flip kit, Caltracs traction bars, new U joints, Carrier bearing and rear tranny output shaft seal, tranny fluid and filter change. Truck rides and steers like brand new now. She only has 73K, but one of the previous owners did a mickey mouse job of lowering the truck. They removed a leaf from the rears, and literally heated the front coils with a torch to lower the front. I would hit a bump, and the truck would bottom out, very aggravating. Went with OEM rear leafs, what a difference. Now, I'm in process of replacing the valve cover gaskets, radiator flush, rear wheel bearings and seals and adding a Detroit Tru Track rear chunk that can handle up to 1150 Ft lbs torque. That will complete the mechanical. Then it's body time. Getting all door dings fixed, adding a hard bed cover and spoiler and a complete paint job with red stripes front to back.

The only glitch as of yet is the tune. Will work on a plan in the new year. I over extended to buy, so I have to sit tight for a bit. But it is well worth it. In NZ it is like rocking horse poo.

Ahh I see it now. Hmm, I might get one after all. Oh, really sorry to hear about the injector issue, hopefully you can get it squared away soon so that you can enjoy your new ride.

I suppose you could always make a tube to fit the square hole and have that as your intake and cap the under hood contraption.
Maybe cut a bigger round hole to fit a standard sized pipe. Certainly be no drama about low pressure or hot air or having it block the hood scoop that let's the hot air out. To me it seems like an easy solution to the many posts on the issues of Volant CAI's
