New To Me

An upgraded hydraulic "kit" and/or better shifter will help with your wot gear changes. Maybe someone with a 6-spd. can chime in with what they prefer.

Get yourself an underdrive-pulley and you'll be close to your HP goal. I'm not sure if it will reach 100 mph before to hit the magic red button but it will be close. :)
From what I can see it has a braided line from the AP brand Master cylinder. I am not worried at the moment. I will be checking out Pressure plate at some stage as last time I had this on a vehicle it was a crook Pressure plate with uneven finger height that would throw the release bearing back too far.
But hey I will be looking into it at some stage.

Our world-famous Calgary Stampede has been cancelled for the first time ever (in 96 ?? years) .

Yet another devastating economical blow, as it brings in over 1/2 Billion dollars in 10 days to the local economy and 700 Million provincially.

AND: The divorce rate climbs nine-fold during the 10-day Stampede. Although that stat isn't advertised in the brochures but is well-known to local divorce lawyers. Damn those Cowgirls and cell-phones !!! ;)

People are getting more than anxious to get back to work around here!!!

Cowgirls, mmmm
The economical devastation here will be far greater than the virus. The general public have no idea what's coming. Most think it's great having 4 weeks paid holiday and doing their bit staying at home blah blah blah. We shall see closer to Christmas how things really are.
Afternoon Ronnie

Well, I don't know about "Vast Knowledge", but thanks.

I typed "Headers work on Reversion".
No They Don't!!! o_O TYPO alert!!!

In a nutshell: The exhaust pulse leaves the cylinder, past the exhaust valve, out the exhaust port and travels down the primary header pipe. When that pulse hits the Header's Collector, something called RAREFACTION occurs and a reverse pulse bounces back towards the cylinder. If the size of the primary pipe is correct (particularly not too big), the pulse will arrive right on time to block fresh fuel from leaving the cylinder during overlap (when the piston is chasing the exhaust valve closed and the Intake Valve is opening to let in another gulp of fresh air and new fuel has entered/is entering the cylinder) via the injectors. Of course we want to keep as much of the combustible air-fuel mix inside the cylinder.

Sidebar: At low rpm (idle), valve overlap (both valves are open) there isn't yet enough rpm/inertia to allow intake air to fully enter the cylinder without some being pushed backwards into the intake manifold creating the rough-idle "sound" a bigger cam is known for.

I hope this heinous mistake hasn't ruined your day and please accept my deepest apology.
I will refund your money, in full, at my earliest convenience.
I'm still waiting on getting my headers and such. How much back pressure do CATs provide? I'm leaning towards no CATs, but don't want to screw up the back pressure.

Really good question. I have no cats ...theory is less restrictive, there are hi-flow cats.....real science, we need Ronnie to come in about here.;)

Good Morning.

Thoughts about back-pressure have been going on for a LONG time.

On a positive note a little is supposed to help scavenge the cylinders of residual exhaust gases (there's that reverse-pulse thing helping again).

Engines can go either rich or go lean with a change to a more or less wide-open exhaust system.

The lean engines were the most detrimental to themselves and without "jetting up" (richer jetting) the carburetor(s) and/or adjusting the ignition timing, a lean mix could do some damage. (A rich fuel mixture burns quicker than a lean one).

I believe that's where the whole backpressure thing got a bad name. I remember as a kid, the old farts (like I am now) would say that you need some backpressure or you'll "Burn the engine out".

IF you decide to go with no cats, a re-tune will be required.

I have (4) Hi-Flow cats on my truck and it's a question of whether I want to put up with the "no cat smell" or maybe lose some power. I I am a self-confessed "Power Optimization Enthusiast" but when it comes to driving in peace and quiet without a smell and maybe giving up some horsepower, that wins over the alternative (for me), hands down.

(4) cats might be costing me 20 horsepower (I doubt it), but I don't really care.
My engine freely buzzes to it's shift point (currently 6450), produces somewhere close to 800 flywheel and gets decent gas mileage. Good enough for me.

Muffler and Hi-Flow cat tech has come a long way. Back in the day, open headers were so common at racetracks. Today- Even with the 4000+ horsepower rigs, they aren't running open headers. It is rare to see/hear that now.

The factories have been getting on the cutouts (more noise) bandwagon lately. Even my daughter's stock new AMG can make more noise than I personally like.

In the end, your personal choice rules.

Have fun.

Thanks Ronnie. I found the exhaust on my old cars was like a chimney on a fire place. Too small or restrictive and it didn't clear, smokey room syndrome. Too big and it was like not having a chimney and we know how that goes. I also used fibreglass wrapping on headers to keep the heat in and helped it draw. We all know how much fun that is at home when the chimney gets hot and starts to roar, ah yeah just before the fire brigade arrive lol
Again just my interpretation on basic physics.
Cats are fine if they flow enough. I am sure there will some out there

Back... "TO THE FUTURE"!!!
Yeah I can let you know what the weather's gunna be lol or what chump is gunna say next hahaha. He needs a spokesperson and stay away from the press and twitter etc
Maybe he just uses it as a distraction so he can get on with it without the media poking around. Anyway no politics. He knows how to make a lot of money that is what a country needs, it is not about hogging photo shoots or smiles and hugs, hang on we have one of those. Caring does not fix an economy

Thank you for the info Ronnie. Also, I googled the Calgary Stampede, looks like good times to be had. Too bad everything is screwed up right now. As Kiwi stated, towards the end of the year might be the indicator on how things will be for the next year or so.

You need to check this out. A Ford Mk2 Escort 2litre BDA engine in the day were 260-280hp probably weighs in at 2200lbs in a rally sprint or similar
Incredible piece of driving

I couldn't see clearly, but I think that is my wife on her way to a sale on bedding.
Hahaha I guess you guys live outta town then:D
I did some of that in the mid 90's and after watching him it became very clear why I never won anything lol

HAHAHA

I think those guys have cat D.N.A. to have reactions like that.
For Sure...I hate them (jealous)
Anyway took the truck to town to get a new WOF (warrant of fitness) 2.75hrs later gotter done. Normally in and out in 20min anyway these are estranged times
Picked up 24 bags of dry con to cart down the stairs and build more steps. 480kg truck didn't even notice it until I gave it the boot she was a bit tail happy in the corners.
Also found if I leave my foot partially on the clutch so the fluid can't go back to Master cylinder it changed fine at 6000 rpm from 2nd to 3rd. Zee plot thickens

Lost my hood scoop at 110mph today. I found it not a scratch on it. Next project make some new resin posts to screw that sucker back on.
