Get any cool stuff for your ride for Xmas???

I'm confused. When I take a picture of my head gasket with my phone and I don't use a flash, my head gasket is black.View attachment 64248
With a flash, it is gold.

Please help.
Special limited edition Canadian gasket I'm pickin'
With lavish coating of Yukon gold
Reflected in the price:D:p

What size horn did you get? I heard one a few months ago at my local speed shop, and it scared the sh!t out of me.
I'm running a dual tank setup with four horns but I think i'm going to add two more horns and yes it's loud as hell :).

Any Head gaskets to steer away from??
I have always favoured Felpro in the past
I saw Apex...they look like the OEM (says they make gaskets for OEM)

If I remember correctly (I could be wrong), Ronnie said the later model OEM gaskets that are gold, are better than our 2005 factory OEM.

Good morning fellers!!

Yes,

The original (black) oem gaskets were replaced by the gold (and thinner) head gaskets sometime in 2005.

I've always used those and have never had an issue; SEVERAL sets later.

So I can't comment on other gaskets available.

Well, you can have a good look around if you yank the heads.
Now you can pull the lifters and drop the oil pan to remove the timing chain cover. Okay, now that's done I can change to a different camshaft.
Now that the heads are off, I can have them cut 30 thou. Say, I might as well have them ported too and new springs, keepers, retainers and valve job.
Hmmm, now that shortblock looks lonely, I should yank it out of there. New pistons, rods, crank treatment, rings, bearings, main caps, machining. etc.

As the cash register sings gleefully with those dollars being spent.

Yes, that's for sure.
I don't know if this hobby is "as bad" as high-end audio for spending hard-earned cash, but I'm still trying to find out.
So far, it's a race to the finish line. :)

Something is very wrong with the economy when the car dealers try (and do) charge $400 for (16) Iridium spark plugs for the common 5.7L Ram Hemi engine (NOT installed, mind you).
That price drops to $220.00 at the local Auto Value parts stores.
Then that price drops again to around $160.00 Canadian (all-in) from Rock Auto in New York which is 3800 kilometers from Calgary.

I guess this makes perfect sense to someone, just not to me. ;)

Where does it stop
My friend spent $20k on a 289 Ford engine 20 years ago lol
That started off as a head gasket lol

How the hell can they get away with selling you spark plugs that are not installed. I'd tell them if they want my business, they better install them at NO CHARGE.

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on my exhaust system finally. Should be ordering the Billy Boat Long Tube headers next week. Takes six weeks to get them fabbed due to other orders ahead of mine. Once fabbed, they are being shipped straight to Jet Hot to be ceramic coated. Between the headers, midpipes, Kamikazi mufflers and tips, it's about $3K. Then another $1K for the speed shop to install.
