This was interesting to me. I have watched several of his videos and personally I have learned a lot!

Lake Speed, Jr. - lots of racing background. Maybe boring to some, but I kinda like him :D

Ive never NOT pre filled an oil filter .. Learned on my first oil change ...
only problems Ive seen from being able to fill the filter was when you replaced the filter in the canaster and some appear to be a problem when the filter is mounted upside down , even some todays cars are like that
..

I guess certain brands have a backflow valve in them for that very reason. Never paid any attention to any of it until I watched a few of his geeky scientific videos lol

The other thing he mentions about the valves is that they are designed to open in the event the filter gets clogged (Severe lack of oil change, etc) so that the engine will get oil to survive.

Manufacturers designs vary slightly -of course there is a filter comparison video too. Fram tested better than what I was under the impression on Fram filters

I guess they figured grossly dirty oil was better than no oil! But then if you're that lazy you deserve the engine to die  :p

I was surprised that the napa oil tested out to be the best of the ones they compared

The real question and answer is,,, Who and how many manufaturers actually manufacturers named oil filters ?
Mopar filters are manufactured by several ( Puralator ,Wix , Champion labs ) . My net is most are made by these same manufacturers and just labeled .. So this would mean oil filters are basically the same !

Could be! The ones he compared were all made with definite differences so I can't say for sure but I imagine some are made by same. Like batteries lol

NAPA oil filters were previously manufactured by Wix, but they have since switched to a Chinese manufacturer, which has raised concerns about quality. Some NAPA filters may still be made in the USA, so it's important to check the packaging.

The reason I brought this up is When I asked why @Kiwi SRT10 posted he used a WIX oil filter on his new build ! I have read in the paste that Wix filters are one if not the best oil filters manufatured.
There is no doubt oil filters , like batteries and most manufacturered things are just branded.
The first head and shop owner of my first job as a mechanic .. was telling me years ago that theyre were only 3 companies that made ball bearings, which sticks with me today !
Who makes the Viper oil filters ? I say there are maybe only a hand full of actual oil filter manufacturers .
How many differences can theremactually be that really are going to make any real difference ?

Its like most everything else ,, advertising , marketing and personal preference - THE COOL FACTOR ..... A name , doesnt make it better , just more expensive !

Heres a question . I you take a Wix oil filter and paint it like a Mopar oil filter does that make it a counterfit item ? Even though they are identical in operation , yet the name painted on the filter makes on cost $10 dollars more !

Think about oils ... Top NAME BRANDS ( Key words , NAME AND BRAND ) lol ... Oil is made with requirements from gov. agency spec. Its the additives added to it that may produce better ludricant properties . Its the same with Gasoline !
Its funny how auto manufacturers tell you not to add addatives to you engines !
The Major thing needed is the oil choice based on climate/temperature differences hence the weight ratings of oil , auto manufacturers give a recommendation yet dont tell you that running the same oil weight in a engine in hot hell hole climates compared to the frozen tundra climates should be different .( like winter and summer ).

Like the purple dye in the Royal purple - does nothing for the product except look good
