We have two terribles. Wild mustard (loves Disturbed soil) and Red Brome (foxtails) loves undisturbed soil. Therefore the less tree planting i do the better of i am. Fake plants will do fine!

That's one way to go about it. The wild mustard is pretty when it flowers and the brome is grass until it goes to seed. Also you can eat wild mustard - so one man's weed is another man's food!
