We were invited to a real Thanks Giving in Cape Girardeau MO. This is hilarious. In a trailer park, in a single wide, he just spent silly money building a deck to put the new deep fryer on. Had a brand new dually Chevy diesel with all the extras and chicken lights (cost as much as a house) His dad was there ex Marine Gunny Sarge. His brother was there current marine corp was at Pentagon during 9/11 (there was no plane, they don't smell like cordite) Had his new Mustang Shelby out front. Said I could take it for a drive and threw me the keys that were intercepted by our host who knew that being a Kiwi we could drive a stick shift. He thought he was safe. hahaha. Then the mother turns up with sister and BF drunk as skunks, then we had the family feud and they drove off so the host's wife rang the cops and got them DUI. All this and more happened 27F outside, trying to snow. What a night. Great food. All traditional MO foods. The turkey was deep fried in peanut oil. Best turkey we have ever had. All in all a great night and entertaining too. Was like being in an episode of My Name Is Earl. The people in MO were very good to us, lots of hospitality and we have great memories. These people that we worked with were sadened that we were not going to be home for Thanks Giving (not a Kiwi thing) and insisted that we came over for the big event. What a nice thing to do.
