SUPERCHARGED VIPER's coming SOOOON!!!

So what would a SC OEM Viper price out at?? I would say north of 160k, that would be getting up there for a Viper.

The article that I read said the 700 numbers for the Viper was a teaser number, like they did with the Hellcat. It said the V10+Supercharger would put out an 800+ number.
The fact that they are going to make that package available for the older Vipers is going to make those guys very happy. Be nice to know the price on that Supercharger Package.

I have to point out what everybody seems to be forgetting... The Viper isn't Chryslers straight line drag racing car! If we are talking peak horsepower and 1/4 mile times then as of now the trophy goes to the Hell-Cat, but even with all that power put it on a track like Laguna Seca where and what the Viper is designed for and I would bet the the Hell-Cat doesn't even come close on lap times compared to a Viper T/A.

We understand that but that's because we are car people. Nobody walks around and says "Man did you see the skid pad for the Viper?", no they say "The (insert car) has so much POWER!"... Less than 1% of car buyers hit a track, I'm sure that number is eclipsed 10x-15x by "red light racers". Horsepower sells, plain and simple, always has, always will.

When the HC outsells the Viper 10:1 and has a larger profit margin execs, who already tried killing off the Viper once, are going "Hmmm I think we were right" and kill it off all while Ralph is in the corner going "THINK OF THE CAR GUYS!"

I guess I have to somewhat agree... It just doesn't make sense comparing the two. I feel as if the manufacturers have their heads up their asses a bit. A few years back when the 2010 ACR beat all 3 of Lamborghini's production cars around the track (I think they ranged from $200K-$450K) everyone was astonished by the performance we were getting out of a $110,000ish American car. Now the same manufacturer is shooting their own nuts off!

Unless they are just ridiculously high......Red RC with full B&B exhaust - 3000 miles for sale:D

I wonder if there is a warranty on the S/C Package if the dealership installs it. Should be.

Guarantee there will not be, all Mopar Performance parts have zero warranty.

I was a way too young to enjoy what I believe was the last ( late '60's early '70's ) true "horsepower war" between manufacturers ....but it is an exciting time to be in, watching these astronomical numbers being produced right before our eyes.

I was there but had my mind on the opposite sex so paid little attention to HP wars. Also had another war to worry about so you are right, this new HP war is exciting as trying to remember the 60's is a little foggy anyway.

Why do you consider that the last true HP war?

Do I consider it the last true hp war ? I do

I suppose in a literal sense that their was a horsepower war every year, but the high horsepower watermark from the Big 3 in 1970 (450hp) was a number that wasn't touched again until the last few years (thats 4 decades my brother) . Mustang puts out a "factory" 662hp GT500 and now a 2 door and a 4 door Dodge are in the 700's....and I'm sure Chevy will have to step up their measly 500 hp Camaro too.

That's an interesting take, Jim. I feel privileged to be observing what I would consider another horsepower war now. (As you said, 707hp Challenger, 662hp Mustang, 580hp Camaro). It's a great time to be a car guy. :)
