Hello all, I am not sure what is causing this but... Sometimes when I start the truck it is very slow on the crank. almost like it will not start. I hold the button in and it sounds like a dead battery but I checked it and it seems fine. Just wondering if it might be something else. It starts everytime but just out of the blue it will sound like it might not start. Should I be concerned??

Likely culprit is corroded battery terminals. How often do you drive it? A battery tender is a good idea if you don't drive it that often.

When I first got my truck it did this. More so when it was a hot restart. Turned out to be the battery. And Optima red top solve the problem

Dead/dying cell in the battery, is what ive read. Mine slow starts every time, again worse when hot. Its still on the original battery. It always seems to start even when you think it wont!

Optima has gone to shit! Watch how long they last and hope it doesn't spew acid out through the little round hole vents like I've seen on two truck. I've personally had two go to shit on me and just outside warranty .

I second Venomous 1 on Optima Batteries being no good. Believe it or not I have had the best luck with the top of the line Walmart battery. The Arizona heat wreaks havoc on a battery. You are lucky to get a year out of a battery. The Walmart top of the line has lasted longer than any battery I have had including the OEM ones that came with my vehicles.

New battery last night. Perfect!!! Thanks all for the info and help. It was the original battery I had in there. lasted 10 years. Not bad.

That's what the forum is all about bud.
Have seen many original battery's still ticking! Great battery!

You can't light off 500+ horse power with 10 volts. Why screw around over $200? & get the truck stuck somewhere. If your truck is a garage queen a battery tender is mandatory!

Red tops are Ok, its the yellow tops that are the pitts..

For the best in quality, any AGM battery will do.

No self respecting owner of a red truck puts a yellow top under the hood, no matter what the amperage is! :)

Putting a snow plow on a 10 is more of a sacrilege then a yellow top battery. Lol
That's why they both are on&in my Wrangler
