Yeah an OLD racer trick in the professional stock racing classes. Put the 904 guts in a 727 housing. The lighter parts and that low(er) 2.77 first-gear set was a great "cheat".
Gears, Shmears.....W.T.F. Kiwi ? ;)
You should have plenty of torque with that engine combination of yours; particularly at your altitude. And even enough to throw a line out and pull the vehicle beside you. 1700+ p.s.i. per cylinder gets a lot of work done!
Your cam isn't very big and is...
Your post is GOLDEN.
I took out my stock 48RE almost immediately after installing the Strikers and the first mild cam. 10K for the heads and cam was only the start of the monetary adventure and the subsequent parts carnage.
You ARE actually re-engineering complete and proven units and it takes...
No I don't, but the "90" can be built to withstand that power level reliably and the "95" is already there, so they say.
But, neither transmission offers the additional strength I am after.
My 48RE was built for 1500 horsepower which is considerably stronger than the 8HP90 or the "95".
My...
Thanks for bringing me up to speed!
The stock 8HP90 would be too weak for my application, so a modifed version of it would be needed and that's around 15 grand U.S. without a core, just for the unit itself sitting on the shop floor.
It all depends on what the end goal is, I suppose.
Many...
Late 2004 with a 2005 engine= normal.
Yes, the piston tops (on ANY ENGINE, EXCEPT DIESELS) do NOT tolerate detonation and will pop a piston sooner or later if the condition causing it isn't resolved. Even forged units under detonation will hammer the pistons enough to crush the ring lands so the...
Yes indeed.
Unfortunately, that torque multiplication (2x and more) is brief.
Several transmission specialty shops provide transmission adapters.
The problem is interfacing our ancient electronics with the newer controls. In a race vehicle or abused p.o s., who cares what does and doesn't work...
900 pounds or so (Reg Cab SRT 10 compared with Rumble Bee 392).
What's interesting though about Autos is the instantaneous and monstrous hit of torque produced when the convertor flashes:
2027 Rumble Bee with a 392 engine and 8 speed auto:
Produced engine torque: 430 lbs. ft. (Launch Torque at...
The SRT Rumble Bee isn't a "New and Improved" version of our trucks, and wouldn't share one nut or bolt.
The SRT10 stands alone and if I had to guess, will appreciate in value.
(But I've been wrong before).
The new styling isn't doing it for me...
My 2 cents.
Looks like fun and it looks to be a real truck not an a.i. generated b.s. version.
777 horsepower
11.6@116 m.p.h.
3.4 zero to 60
170 m.p.h.
All wheel drive/4 wheel drive, switchable to 2 w.d.
[8" shorter wheelbase than 2005/2006 SRT 10 Q.C.]
Really looking forward to having a race with one...
