    CAT (caterpillar) oil filter

Wifey may be able to help here because it was years ago when this discussion last came up. I do remember seeing a higher number in the manual of a 2006, which was a misprint. Again, it was years ago but I've always used 8.5L with a filter change. It takes 10 Liters (10.5 U.S. Quarts) after a...

    CAT (caterpillar) oil filter

Okay thanks. I have a heavy Kawasaki V-Twin Cruiser (2053 cc) and Kawasaki oil is getting harder to come by and is now stupid expensive. I've often thought to try 5 liters of Rotella in the Kawi. It worked fine in my Harley when I tried the Rotella way back when.

    CAT (caterpillar) oil filter

Well said! The big one for me is to use quality oil and don't keep it in there too long. I've never much cared about the oil filters, because I don't give them much of a workout anyway as they aren't on there for long. And I use a well designed catch can which captures even more nasties. WIX...

Oil and Filters is always a popular topic. I'm glad to see people jumping in with their own experiences. That makes it seem like an active forum again.

Yes, now they all seem to have a non-stick coating. With enough use the coating gets worn down and you can put the Metamucil away.

About 50 years ago, I put a Pizza in a microwave. I accidentally pressed Pootaytoe and it was still a Pizza when the bell went off. False advertising, I'd say. That was the last time I used one.

Hard to say. Even if the well known companies from years back aren't owned by an overseas conglomerate, it doesn't mean their manufacturing specs haven't changed radically over time. As you said: Just say NO to Fram. I wish "you get what you pay for" was as true a statement as it used to be.

    CAT (caterpillar) oil filter

The oil pump on the Viper engine is huge (one of the largest on any production engine) and spins at a 1:1 ratio with the crank. It is moving a LOT of oil at say, 6 grand. The Viper oil filter has a few things going for it: A STIFF bypass spring (for higher pressure differential situations) @...

NEW SRT RUMBLE BEE TRUCK (2027)

Here's one you won't likely find through Google... Chrysler did indeed experiment with split-pin/offset crankpins in their Viper V10. Although it sounded heavenly, it offered no increase in power and would have added considerable cost. So, it was never added into production. <end> A 72 degree...

NEW SRT RUMBLE BEE TRUCK (2027)

Hmmmm..not sure what you mean. Trucks don't squarely fit into the box because of the air they push. Add to that, there are calculators out there that are punishing and those that seem optimistic. Compare Wallace Racing with RobRobinette, for example. According to Wallace, my own truck would...

NEW SRT RUMBLE BEE TRUCK (2027)

The video results were similar to a motorcycle I had for a short time.. A loud noise out the exhaust without the side affect of acceleration. Anyway, it takes more than their planned 777 horsepower for a 6400 pounder (with Driver) to run 11.60s I'm sure they will have it all sorted out prior to...

NEW SRT RUMBLE BEE TRUCK (2027)

A tenth is a car length at 100 m.p.h. The new SRT is a truck that is supposed to run 11.6 and trap at 116 m.p.h., so 16 m.p.h. more than the 100 m.p.h. base is kinda/sorta close enough for this conversation, I suppose. With that, the SRT-10 he was talking about would have to able to run a...
